Well, my guess would be that the anonymity afforded here prevents those whose only goal seems to be offending as many people as possible from receiving the painful response they'd get in a personal confrontation at the track. It's easy to be bravely offensive at a computer keyboard.

I love Scooby Doo!! That's besides the point. I think that people do it because they haveing nothing better to do with their time then to make other people feel bad and to just add random thoughts and they think its very entertaining. It is a sport but its more of a lifestyle then anything else. I agree that Jeff Gordon and Jr. fans can get along great together. GO #24!!

l have my favorite drivers and there are some l don't like, but there aren't any that l hate.
l've only been to one race at Texas. l saw all kinds of Dale Jr. T-shirts and Gordon #24 hats. And most of what l saw were smiles. l didn't see not one fight all day long.
l feel that if a person likes a paticular driver, there is no reason to bash him for that reason.
And l really enjoy this NASCAR Q & A forum. l try to read each question, but if l see it's only a way to humiliate or bash a driver or the person that asked a question, l won't even open it and move on to the next one. There are a lot of intelligent questions asked here, you just have to sift through the junk to find them.

I have been to three races so far, and I might be going to my fourth one, in a few weeks, i have yet to see a fight, when I went to the Pepsi 400 in 2005, there were no fights (even thought there were several Jeff Godon fans right behind some Dale Earnhardt Jr fans) other than that it was just one big party.

Respect. Fans at a race respect all the drivers for putting their lives on the line for our entertainment. At a race, the drivers respect the fans, for the most part, for supporting them and allowing them to do what they love to do for a living. There is not a ton of respect in cyber space. People that are shy, maybe loners in real life can all of a sudden become whoever and whatever they want to on here. Maybe they feel like they don't get the credit they deserve in the real world so they are going to demand it here or try to take it anyway. The thing about it is that it can ONLY be earned from your peers, co workers, family or whoever. I struggle with enjoying many of you and yet constantly dealing with trolls and just plain negatively ignorant people. CAN"T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG?

I was a Security Officer for Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Don't believe that every thing is all hunky dory because you didn't see it on TV. I can't tell you the number of fan vs. fan disputes we were dispatched to as well as the drunk needing assistance calls.
The people in this forum are in a fishbowl, it only appears that there are more disputes here.
Personally, I think you guys generally police yourselves and in-fighting appears to be minimal as compared to the "real-world".
Am I wrong?

NASCAR is still my favorite sport.I've followed drivers and teams since 1960 and one of my all time favorites never won a "Grand National-Winston Cup Race but won 3 NASCAR sportsman division(Now Busch series) championships,Red Farmer.People argue he dose not belong in the 50 greatest drivers, but yes he taught drivers to compete and some of his students drove including the late Davey Allison(another favorite).
Today if you even suggest a driver is better than Gordon,Johnson,Stewart,Earnhardt,Biffle,Kenseth your black balled with a bad answer.Hey NASCAR has gone soft. One of the most popular drivers in the 60's was Curtis Turner.NASCAR suspended him in the 60's,later reinstated him but he screwed up and NASCAR booted him.NASCAR even threatened to put Richard Petty out of racing because of the drivers union.
I know who I like;
Stewart
Hamlin
Labonte
Petty
Jeff Burton
Ricky Rudd
Sadler
Truex
Nemecheck
Green
These teams are my favorites and not a week goes by that one of these is put down, but that is the writters opinion and that is good for the forum,I like to see others opinion. But I don't Fire off critical comments toward others statements.
There are drivers I don't like and I'll make a blanket statement on them but never falsely accuse any of the with actions-events-or lifestyle I don't know about.
But in this forum if you are not fans of certain drivers you are wrong in your answer. If you don't agree with certain writters your wrong.Thats what made this forum so good was the range we had.
Last November-December-January when there were about 10 of us that wrote on this forum daily to days when there were 10 or 15 new writters a day.Now most of the older fans have faded away, some answer, others read ond go on.
People on this forum want to be right and want everyone to agree that they are.But life each of us is different and have our own opinion.Come November-December-January let's see how many real fans are still here.
Sorry for the rant but that was it .
Let the green flag drop.
Enjoy your questions and general points of view.

the ability to hide behind a screen makes some go to the extreme that we really do not need here. We are all for the mostpart interested in nascar and racing and the drivers. A few want to make a scene and have a row...we are beyond that, its not great to weed it all out, and the questions do get aggrivating, heck, I was made to go away, but I still love it here, still have my friends, and in the words of dw...boogidy, boogidy,boogidy...lets go racing...
smiles and scratches scooby behind the ear...good boy!

Somebody needs a scooby snack!!!
~Shorty waves Scooby's snack through the air like an airplane~
I know what you mean, sometimes we only read part of what someone is asking without taking the time to fully grasp what they are saying. Rule of thumb, read the question twice before answering, I learned that tonight!
Sorry again Dale Fan!

Main reason is simple alot of people come here to gain points. instead of knowing the answer to your questions. so people like to push your buttons to get a kick out of starting fights betweens us. If you spend money on going to the races. you have to be a race fan but any one can come here to answer questions without spending anything. just like people who goes to a muisc concecrt, the only one who are there are the ones who likes that artist. it's like a KISS fan going to a Big & Rich concert ain't going to like it .. The nascar fans will spend 100's on their driver. and then a cyclist will spend 100's on bike parts, and each other thinks the other is strange for doing it.
