Im not sure but I know that I have been training in the martial arts for years. I have trained in acouple different arts and am glade I did. I see no reason why a person with a wheelchair cannot train. I say go on down to a place that interests you and talk to the instructor about what they offer and if you like it then what could you do with your situation so you can still be learning. Dont let this hold you back you could very well become one of the best of the class with practice.

I saw a feature on TV years ago on this Black belt who had an acc1dent that put him in a wheelchair. He basically just started training again and used his wheelchair as a prop or weapon in combination with his hand techniques to form a practical self defense system for the wheelchairbound. It was pretty much quite an achievement and showed his resourcefulness and dedication. Is it sanctioned by any organization? I dunno, but if it helps build confidence and gives a last resort chance of self defense for the handicapped, then I'm all for it.

I have seen a video documentary about a wheelchair guy gaining a blackbelt in Tae Kwon Do....figure that out.

but good on him I say, on the video, when he kicks he is just using kicking techniques as if he had legs....but in his mind he is kicking.
