Took her to the doc today. Stated she didn't know if it was a blocked saliva gland or a lymph node. So the doc did what they all do, slap em with antibiotics.
Just found out her cousin had the same symptoms at the same age. They took her to the Cleveland clinic and they missed Leukemia. She died at age 12.

I think we are going to try to get a second opinion around here somewhere although all the offices seem to be owned by the same mega hospital system doc in a box type of place.

Is there anything I can look for on the net or should be watching for? Her whole side of under her ear and upper cheek is swallon and painful.

Very worried..

Considering the cousin's history, I would definitely look into this asap. Is this something that can be biopsied? That will be the best way to tell what it is, whether it be an infection, a bug bite, or something more serious. I have a niece, when she was 19 she had a small mobile mass in her neck area. It sat there 2 years while the doctor said it was just a bump. Finally, my sister said she wanted the thing removed because it made her nervous and when they biopsied it, it turned out to be thyroid cancer. Thanks God she had it checked. Even though it was 2 years ago, my niece came out of it fine and is disease free today. But, the point is, getting a biopsy of anything that is unusual is very important. I will pray that she will be alright and I hope it is not serious. Good luck to you.

It was a good Idea to be worried that it was cancerous. If your doc flips it off go to another.

A blood test (cbc hand diff) could diagnose a disease of white blood cell count. Maybe you could go to a private lab to get the orders and pay out of pocket. Have results in hand and take them to the doctor yourself...
