no matter what we believe, we think we have the right to prove ourselves right.
Do you?

I've learned that proving my faith to being right compared to other faiths only turn others away. It also shows that I'm not strong in my faith, but weak. We as Christians don't have to prove anything. If our lives don't prove it, what will? Yes we should always be prepared to answer questions if asked, but in either case, we should allow the Holy Spirit to work and not to do anything in our own power. Oops, I'm preaching again. Sorry!!

Apparition:
I am out of the Game because of Belief - an Eye for an Eye, or perhaps because" The means justify the End". It is a Question of Manners. Your Q. at this Time is worth making an exception.
But ( & it is always important what comes after 'but') it is Facts on which I base most of my beliefs and therefore, which prove me right. Hence it is the awareness of The Right - our Right - which manifests the need to prove itself through our words & acts.
It is now Yahoo management which has to hear what I need not prove anymore.
Hear, one way or the other, they will hear.
My Dear Invisible Ramjet: it is not about 'feeling', but Being.

It seems to me that often people are content to just "be". It does not become an issue until their thoughts, way of life, action, etc., are challenged. Once that happens, especially on the Internet, I think many feel the only recourse is to argue their point to death.

I'll admit it: I like being right :) I tend to avoid arguments where I know very little or care very little about the subject.

Im happy to continue to beliving anything which makes itself useful to me in some way. I dont care about truths which are useless. When I notice that something I belived was harmful to me in some way, I stop beliving it.

This is the fundamental reason people feel the need to support their ideas. It comes initially from humility- the admission that they could in fact be wrong- and it comes from optimism as well, the hope that better beleifs are possible- that learning, growing, evolving is possible.

Because proving things is what allows a body of knowledge to form. Without a foundation based on proof, you can not build.

If all we did was make claims, the world would never have gotten past, "It's true because I said so."

Is that how you want your facts?

"why do we feel the need to prove ourselves right?"

If you intend to discuss your beliefs with others you better be prepared to back them up.

If you want other to take you seriously you must be able to prove you have something worth listening too.

"no matter what we believe, we think we have the right to prove ourselves right"

Ofcourse we have the RIGHT to prove ourselves correct.

Ego status.
Transanction analysis will help
If one is in the ego state of 'child to adult'
it happens.
The Firob test will bring you the actual
results of your ego status.
It is not any diagnostic test, but
relating to "human resources."
There will be six page questionnaire
which you should answer without thinking.
It should be fast.
In simple terms,
it is our adamancy,
uncompromise attitudfe
and feeling
superiority complex.
We should shun this attitude.
But it takes considerable
time and practice.
But one has to be patient.

Even if you achieve 40% you will
find happiness which you never
felt.

No,I have no need to defend myself, but rather the Gospel....My goal is not to win the argument, but as a wayshower, to cause eyes to open and ears to hear,by providing thought stimulating questions and answers,in an attempt to direct others to the source of all truth.

I will contend for the faith, love my country, my family and my fellow man, even though some of my fellowmen are so misguided. I am thinking you should start a movement [no pun intended] to get everyone one the bran muffins. Perhaps we would not all be so full of it. [Pun intended.] Gotta love that Bobbie Bonsai!

If it's what you believe then why would you not argue your point? unless you just don't want to argue then that's fine. You learn a lot from debate and will only end up more educated in the end if anything.
