We already have table cloths provided by venue, but they are plain white and not very attractive. Instead of renting expensive table cloths we thought about overlays. Or, at least, I think that's what they are called. We are looking for something colorful to place on 60" round banquet table besides the centerpiece. I don't know what I am looking for either an overlay or I think they call it a square cut out?????? Any suggestions on what to get and where to rent them would be awesome. Thanks.

Your venue should be able to provide them. You can also look for a rental company in the phone book or try under weddings or parties. Sometimes there are wedding decorators in the phone book.

Yes it is called an overlay. Depending on what your wedding theme is you can also do one of these. You can sprinkle flower petals on the table.

You can take ribbon that you buy in a bolt and cut it in lengths that would hang over the edge of the table about 8 to 10 inches. I would use ribbon that is 1 1/2 to 2 in wide. Use a ribbon that is soft and will lay easily over the edges. You will use 3 strips for each table. Lay the first strip on in the center of the table letting the ends lay the same length on each side. Next lay the next stip so it is crossing the other strip and is the same length on the sides as the other strip. This will make an x in the middle. The 3rd strip is then placed in the center of the x making sure the ends are the same length as the others. These can all be precut before your setup date in your favorite color. I would stick with a solid color. You can buy this ribbon at craft stores. When cutting the ribbon at the ends cut a v shape to make them look fancy.

If you go with a overlay you can make these using tulle which is a fine netting that you buy at your craft or fabric store. You can also use this tulle in a different way. Take the diameter of the table and add about 10 in. Lay the tulle on a counter and lay it flat. Fold it half by cut ends. Where the fold is then you take your hand and gather it and tie with a piece of thin ribbion. Now take one end and fold it toward the center where you had tied the first ribbon. Where that fold was made tie another ribbon and then do the other side. Then place this around the top edge of the table meeting the ends and tie them together with the same ribbon. Trim. Then you can place bigger bows where they were tied off in sections. Fluff the tulle all around. This is really pretty when done with colored tulle or white with colored ribbon. You can buy this tulle also wholesale on the net. Hope you get some ideas from this. Good luck and have a nice wedding!

Go to a fabric store and according to how large the round tables are, you buy fabric say 60 inches wide and make a square. Sew the edges and you have your own unique square overlay. You can get chiffon, damask, silk taffetta, all kinds of fabric. The only problem is that your tables are 60" so the fabric has to be larger and most fabric does not come larger than 60". Another great idea is to buy yards and yards of chiffon and drape around the tablecloth like festoons and you can pin them. But, remember you must get a fabulous buy on the fabric. I have a great fabric website that I buy all my fabric from and it is called fabricguru.com. The best prices in town. Check that site out. Also check out theknot.com and marthastewart.com on how to decorate your own wedding tables. Good Luck

i do not know how many tables you are talking about but i have been to a wedding where they dressed up the plain white tables by adding 3 bows on each round table a few inches from the top. the ribbon of course would be the primary color in your center piece. also i would look on line and google weddings and see whats out there and create your own inexpensive version of the ideas you will get from seeing the pictures. google tablecloths, centerpieces, wedding, parties. etc. i am sure you will see something you like. congratulations
