...they can so easily accept that God is an eternal being without a creator? One of the main points behind the Christian faith is they cannot fathom the universe existing without a creator, everything has to have a creator--but if they believe that is so, then why do they so readily accept God as someone who simply is and always has been? Is it that hard to imagine the universe (or at least the point that exploded and became the universe) in that same fashion?

"So your telling me that you are here with out the help of sperm or egg, (no creator)"
No, I'm telling you the UNIVERSE is here without a creator. I hardly constitute as a universe.

"Because science demonstrates that matter is not eternal. It will eventually break down over another 10 billion years."
I thought science also demonstrated that matter is neither created nor destroyed?

"so which is it , the Bible or Theory?"
Probably theory, since it has more evidence behind it. God is all about blind faith--sort of convenient, isn't it?

Because science demonstrates that matter is not eternal. It will eventually break down over another 10 billion years.
There is also the issue of what started the Big Bang. I can have an unstable substance in a lab, and lacking any stimuli, what will it do? Nothing.
God makes sense because he could make this universe happen. An eternal universe does not, because we should still be an unstable ball of atoms that does nothing due to lack of stimuli.
However, I will hand this to you- I have said for years that either matter or God is eternal. You have to decide which makes the most sense. I just come to a different conclusion that you, because it certainly makes more sense to me.

While we do believe that God is the creator, we don't consider God to be human, or even have a body. God himself is eternity, and Good, and every possible thing that you can think of. That's where some people go wrong, they refer to God as if he's a human when he's not, he's a spirit that is, and forevery will be present. The Universe on the other hand, is a physical thing, that you can see and explore, which means that it had to have a creator, unlike God. The point is, God is EVERYTHING, infinity & eternity which cannot be created.
1) The Bible says that He created the Universe (Heavens, & the Earth) and I stick to it 100%.
2) Take the time and read some parts of the Bible, and you will notice that it matches up with scientific data.
3) As for The Big Bang Theory, it's not convincing me. How can the Universe have come from a "singularity"? What singularity? If the Big Bang is all they got, I suggest atheists stop criticizing Christianity.
4) Thank you and have a nice day.

In chemistry we sometimes design experimentation using a system called a control matrix that includes "blanks" and "spikes". We are looking for results in the analyte that we are already expecting. This system (the matrix) simply confirms the presence and quantification of the analyte. Another example is a litmus test were an indicator will simply change colour immediately when the results we are expecting are confirmed. Anyway, we are the chemist and we know what our "experiment" is all about, which is why we design it the way we do. The "stuff" inside the test tube has no say so in the matter (no pun) and will react accordingly. It is no mistake God became human, poor,jewish, choose not to publish a book, not to become a leader or run for office and indeed finally end up on death row. Its His creation you are just in it. Ammendum: I thought more about your question last night. The theme seems to be the old which came first chicken or egg story. Has any one ever "solved" that including you. What is your purpose here; because obviously we cant answer your analogy on love having a "beginning" any more than we can answer the chicken or egg thing from the sixth grade. I can at least offer this . . .you are the only thing in the universe imprinted with the curiosity to ask such questions. The human being alone wonders where did I come from? Where is my creator? The questions you have are a good sign and I encourage you to continue your search. Peace out.

The concept is in direct violation of the Laws of Science.
1st law of Thermodynamics -- matter cannot be created or destroyed.
2nd law of Thermodynamics -- matter is moving from order to disorder.
Something that is beyond the Laws of Science had to introduce matter. Something beyond the observable Law of Science had to put the matter in Order.
Even the uneducated know this to be simple logic. An old African proverb, "If the warrior walks in the desert and finds a staff, the first question he asks is, 'who made this'?
Today, just as predicted by wise men of old, educated fools try to explain the universe and show their wisdom. But they are building their arguments upon the shifting sands of men's theories and explanations.
Evolution as a theory has changed over and over. The explanation has become more and more outlandish. The general public cries out for it to be accepted as a Law of Science instead of a theory. The scientists themselves encourage one another saying, "but now everyone accepts the Theory". The authors keeps saying, "we are pretty certain", "we are confident", "there is a great probability".
The theory of explosion to explain the existence of our current universe is no different in many respects from the idea that a Creator designed the Universe.
1. It is not observable.
2. It is not repeatable.
3. It violates current Scientific Laws, which means it had to be supernatural (or above nature).
The two ideas, Explosion VS God, do diverge though at the point of logic.
An explosion that happened a long time ago creates what? Disorder.
Order can only be achieved by....Intelligent Design.

Actually it is only intelligence that can very plainly see everything created has a creator. WHO made your watch some person and who made all the elements that went into the watch The Supreme Person. That would be God also known As Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, etc. Your mental speculation will get yo no where. It is said in the Vedas that only the actually intelligent persons can know God. For reality beyond al mental speculation Read Bhagavad Gita As it is By Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada on line asitis.com For the most intelligent persons.

I do not know where God came from or how he came into being if he has not always been and I do not try to tell others how they should believe either.
I will say this however. Once a person has a personal relationship with God, you find that you no longer are even curious about all the "scientific" reasons for things. I don't claim to understand how this universe and life began but I do know that my God was the one who began it all. I don't know how many years it took, or how old the earth is etc. because I wasn't there to see it....nor was anyone else other than God. Apparently he is not all that concerned with the "scientific" viewpoints either as he has never conveyed any information on this subject to me and I have learned from experience that when something is important to him he lets me know. Someday it will all fall into place but in the meantime, it really doesn't matter to me.

So your telling me that you are here with out the help of sperm or egg, (no creator)
even you have a creator
The Big Bang, I will not state that it did not happen nor will I state that it did...don't know
Edit:
and I'm telling you that EVERYTHING has a creator, a Pro and Con thing. You can't do something with out something happening
Edit: God is God, o-o I will let you ask Him, The Bible states NO, so I say NO, God Made the Universe and that is written in the Bible to, so o-o, you won't take the Bible and God making the universe, but will take there is only God and none before HIM out of the Bible
so which is it , the Bible or Theory?
Edit:
Well since you choose Theory and stated Probably, then your correct, Theories are a Probability anyhow, and until they are proven Facts will remain as thoughts (opinions)

Because it is not logical to assume inanimate unintelligent matter existed eternally. It is more logical to assume everything material had a beginning. If it had a beginning then something was the uncaused first cause. The universe with its vastness and order is a logical construct. Logical and ordered right down to the merest speck we have discovered. Too, too detailed and interwoven to be a chance occurrence. Creation is so much beyond the human psyche to comprehend in its completeness. It is the greatest witness to the majesty of an omnipotent Deity that could ever have been formed.

Your question is based on a false premise: The universe is NOT eternal.
Allow me to explain:
You see, this whole idea about the universe being eternal was Aristotle's. Since that time, science has evolved much (and will still evolve and advance much, hopefully).
We now know that the universe had a beginning. (Therefore, it can't, wasn't, and never will be eternal.) It is known as the Big Bang. Dr. Ralph Alpher, one of the co-authors of this, when it was "just a theory," was recently awarded the National Science Medal. (reference: http://www.bizjournals.com/albany/stories/2007/06/11/daily30.html)
But, what I hope you will find more interesting, is the fact that the Qur'an speaks of the Big Bang and many more scientifically verifiable phenomena (many of which are, as of now, verifiably correct) in over 1000 verses. (Although it isn't a science book. Meaning that, it isn't meant for your physics class. It is a text that is more befitting a "Life 101" course.)
Regarding the Big Bang, your Creator -- the author of the Qur'an -- says:
"Do not the Unbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were joined together (as one unit of creation), before we clove them asunder? We made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe? (The Noble Qur'an, 21:30)"
Notice how this addresses you (and all those who don't believe in a Creator)... This clearly asks you: "do you not SEE" that the universe had a beginning (in the event of the Big Bang)? Actually, it says much more than that. It clearly states that the whole of the universe was at first, one unit of creation, and then your Creator "cloved it asunder."
Do you not see that this describes the Big Bang?
Just for free, the fact that all living animals are created from water is also mentioned. (Notice how this is inline with how exobiologists first try to find signs of water on planets when they search for planets that may contain life. That's why all the stories about finding ice (forzen water) on Mars and Europa is such a big deal.)
Also notice how the person responsible for this theory is still alive today... This is recent stuff. So the Qur'an is really speaking, in this verse, to the modern-day person.
One verse clearly describes this as your Creator's modus operandi:
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
41:53 In time We shall make them fully understand Our messages [through what they perceive] in the utmost horizons [of the universe] and within themselves, so that it will become clear unto them that this [revelation] is indeed the truth. [Still,] is it not enough [for them to know] that thy Sustainer is witness unto everything?
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
In time, the Truth shall make itself manifest.
Yet,
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
(2:6) As to those who reject Faith, it is the same to them whether thou warn them or do not warn them; they will not believe.
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
In all this, behold, there are messages indeed for those who are endowed with reason.
wassalaamu ala manitaba alhuda.

Because God's a supernatural force by nature, if you'll forgive the pun. The universe, natural and whatnot, can't really be eternal (outside of silly sci-fi theories in Quantum Mechanics and all those "sciences") without violating its nature as we know it.
Thus, it seems more logical to a Christian to conclude that, what with the requirements being supernatural, it is the supernatural being that's the more likely explanation. Does that help?
Edit:
Watch out, a Christian's using logic. It's the sign of the atheist's end of times.
