It's from the Latin, "traditio" - meaning "to hand over". We get the English word "traitor" from this root. It basically means something that is handed over - passed on from one generation to another.

1. Baptism by the Holy Spirit is automatically noticed by the visible sign of speaking in tongues.
2. Baptism can mean sprinkling or pouring.

something that is practiced through the ages. we have Christmas and Easter traditions in my family that, through word of mouth only, we know date back 350 years. unfortunately, there were no camcorders, typewriters or such back in the day so.... tradition is what, in some cases, is the only living record.
