im a christian, but when i started reading the bible... most of it i didn't like at all. it just seems that man made it (women barely have anything to say or do) and they kill animals for sacrifices, God who is supposedly loving and forgiving to all, he wipes out cities because they are so sinful and all that....

and what's weirder is that, i love the supernatural... i like reading about dragons (who are bad in the bible) witches and wiccans (who are also bad in the bible) ghosts (who we should not come in contact with according to the bible) and magick (which is very bad in the bible).

i don't understand, everything that i like is bad according to the bible... and things that i stand up for is bad to God...

so is the bible correct? because people tend to say that the bible is God's Holy Word.... how? if it's written by humans... people who are flawed in every way? It either means that man wrote the bible for their own needs or God is mean himself...

not to be rude, but i have talked to my pastor about these issues, but all he said was to not question the bible... what if we never questioned about anything? then maybe the biblical times would still be here huh? (as in... man based times)

I hate to tell you this but the reason your pastor said that is because he doesn't know the answers. Let's try a few.

God is the author and used men as secretaries. They put flavor of their experiences in it. That does not change the message it was to convey. Men are indeed flawed. Fortunantly, God is not.

Women have a good role in the Bible. There are many faithful women throughout. The book of Ester is a woman. In fact, at a time when women were considered property, the message of the Bible (2Peter ch. 3) commands husbands to treat their wives as a "weaker vessel". Treating them with respect and honor as themselves. This required attitude adjustments for many.

As for the supernatural, the Bible warns against it because of the harm that can come from it. First, the condition of the dead is the first signal something is deceitful. Eccles. 9:5,10 tells us the dead know nothing and can do nothing. They can't feel pleasure or pain. So a burning hell or harp playing heaven or earth bound ghosts do not exist. This too goes against what your pastor says. but pick up your Bible and read the scripture for yourself. (Also Psalms 146:4 & Ez. 18:4) The reason for all this concern is who is behind all this. Satan. He keeps transforming himself into an an gel of light to mislead many. He is the father of the lie. (2Cor. 11:14, 15; John 8:44) His specalty is lying to people to cause their deaths. Our safety is why the warning.

Animal sacrifices were done to remind people of the sin of Adam they were in need of rescue from. It all pointed to Jesus offering his perfect body for sacrifice as "the Lamb of God" that balanced the scales of justice. It was a reminder that they were to look forward to his arrival.

I hope this helps. Now my fingers start to ache and I am done for now.

Yes God is wrathful. Think about it like this if some one was killing babies would you not want to stop them even kill them?
Every time we sin it is our sin that come up in the nose of God. God looks down and putt's up with it for a while but them he can no longer and show us mercy because there is nothing good left. The book of Esther is a book where a woman has power. You may want to talk to your or a pastor about your concerns. On this web page their are those that will drag you away from the faith. God has love for us but look around at the world people are turning their backs on God and sinning. He will have to pure out his wrath on us before long. The atheist here will want you to attack the bible. You can question but the answer are there. You may need to go to another Pastor.

Someone who says they are a Christian who hates God and His word but loves all the things that God hates?

I think you can work that out for yourself.

Maybe ask yourself some questions.

Is God right in what He says? Or are you right and He is wrong?

Is it that you don't understand what you read or is it that God doesn't know what He has written and didn't reckon on clever people finding fault with it all, so it can't be true can it?

Are you bad or do you think that it is God that is bad?

So many people think they know better than God, why shouldn't you?

Strange though that by being like that you prove the truth of what the Bible says. How weird can that be?

The bible is a collection of books written by men from a time when women were of a lower class to a man. It's just the way things were back then. It's full of used myths from other cultures and superstition.
The Way of St. Lucius is a faith, not a religion, and I think that would be something you would be interested in. You can see some info at myspace.com/st_lucius.com

Listen. The last thing God wants you to feel is confused. If you were to read around the verse, for example the chapter before and after, then you might understand why some of these things you mention are incorrect. Not the Bible itself. If I may recommend, get in a good bible-based church and don't be afraid to ask your pastor some of these questions.

just because something is undesireable doesn't make it incorrect. broccoli is good for you: not something many kids like to accept.

people are not flawed in every way. you're able to type aren't you? that's one less flaw. you're able to form opinions, think and reason aren't you? another less flaw. God inspired man to right, and to write. not just "Hey, let's write about God"; no. God chose men who could write to write the Jewish Law, to be good and bad examples, and those who were given direction by the Holy Spirit to right down instruction and their experiences.

the Bible isn't anti-female. if you read it like that, you have a problem in your understanding. God did not say to Eve she and womankind would be lesser than man. she was given a subordinate role. but that role has changed to a better one, like a pilot and co-pilot: the pilot doesn't fly or make big decision without the co-pilot, a pilot and co-pilot are both trained and equipped, they have different roles, but they do their combined job.

You need to start exploring other religions and choose whatever fits. That's what I did. I too used to be christian but I questioned and now I'm wiccan. I'll tell you, I've never been happier or felt more comfortable with a religion and for once I don't have any questions.

What you see when you read the Bible identifies your own spirit and the things that are going on with you. It is a mirror to your own heart. As they say, what you see is what you get.

The supernatural and spiritualism are two different things. Things that we see come forth in reality are based on faith in God. Things in magic are accomplished making use of those abilities which man was created with; but used without concern for, reference to, or faith in God. In short spiritually illegal.

Jannes and Jambres to a point could match Moses miracle for miracle. Moses was doing what God said. Jannes and Jambres were showing "skills" which they had developed in occult study and used for money, fame and power.

As to God's word written by humans -- God works through humans, both good and bad. In the case of King David; instructions for the temple were given to him in what we would call automatic writing. This is noted in Scripture.

Many think inspired means those who wrote sat down like you and me to write some prose under contract to a publisher. When God speaks to men under inspiration, especially for Scripture, it is carved into their minds like words in stone.

There are other levels of inspiration, like Handel's Messiah, which was written in about three weeks.

Finally notice how all the spirits line up in answer to your question? For a number, you have written an answer to their call. Or did you perchance call them up? Think about it.

And I would add, is a loving and forgiving God so loving and forgiving that he would stand back and let murderers carve up your mother and father, your friends and everybody in your country? Real love brings correction; real love can be provoked; real love can be spurned to individual and national destruction.

Sadly i cannot help much....I Personally do not believe in the bible....If you want to believe, then believe. I have a problem with a "book" that uses names as Mary, Joseph, Paul, James....... you get the point.... These people were Hebrew Jews.......I don't see hebrews of the time with such Anglo type names....As for witches in the bible, I believe they were not considered bad or evil, Simply not to be messed with....
