I have braces so I've rarely ever flossed, maybe once a week. My dentist told me to floss some more because my gums aren't healthy and they bleed when they're flossed (I don't have gingivitis or anything).

So I decided to floss twice a day, and a few days later my gums looked like they had cuts from flossing too hard. They don't bleed as much as they did a few days back though, so that's a good thing. Should I still continue to floss?

give your mouth a day off and swish with some warm salt water. only floss once a day after that and be gentler. your gum health will improve in time and they won't bleed.

Yes you should continue but try to adapt the floss around the tooth better. If you pull the floss too much to the front or too much to the inside, you will gauge the tissue. That is the cuts you are talking about. You need to hold the floss even when you are moving it up and down alongside the tooth.Hope this helps.

Your mouth is bleeding because your gums are very weak from little flossing and bad gum health. Your gums must adapt to all of the flossing and will eventually strengthen. I would recommend flossing only once a day.

hell yes floss....by the way you did have gingivitis.
try and contour the floss around your tooth instead of just ramming it up between your teeth, its less damaging that way
