After missing the start of the race because his helicopter couldn't find a place to land, Almirola, a substitute driver, started the race in Hamlin's car. Hamlin took the wheel from Almirola during an early pit stop. Almirola, who shook his head as he retreated to the team's transporter after being ordered to hand the car over to Hamlin. Almirola refused interview requests and later sneaked out a side entrance to leave the track without comment.

No it was not fair at all! Aric Almirola was doin a good job drivin the car and they still made him get out. Even after Denny Hamlin said it would be disrespectful to take him out of the car and let him race it, he still did it anyway. I've never liked him and this year I dislike him even more after all the crap he has said about his crew and now this incident.

It was an insult to Almirola. After Hamlin arrived they stated that unless Almirola wanted out of the car they were going to leave him in. Hamlin was even at another teams pit, expecting to take over that car since the driver wasn't feeling well. He even stated that it would be unfair to take Almirola out. I just hope the next time they need someone to sub for Hamlin they remember how they treat their subs. It was shameful. I do however, have to comend Hamlin for the win coming three laps down. Win or not there was no excuss.

I have to sypathize with Almirola a bit. He probably saw this as his big break and his moment to really shine. I don't blame him for ducking the press because he was probably really upset and would've said something he would regret.

Hamlin on the other hand should not have attempted to stretch himself the way he did. Most Cup Regulars chose not to do both Milwaukee and Sonoma for the very reasons that Mr. Hamlin found himself in this weekend.

I don't know if any of what happened this weekend was fair; but I do know we have not heard the last of Mr. Almirola and I am sure soon his opportunity will some again.

Even though I think it sucks that Almirola was forced out of the car to give it up to Hamlin, Almirola was credited with the win and the prize money. Pretty sucky way to win huh???

*BTW Hamlin was late b/c he overslept and then he couldn't find anywhere for his helicopter to land so Almirola was his relief driver.

Denny stated at the beginning of the race that he did not want to pull Almirola out of the car, so I don't blame him. I blame the sponsers for making Almirola get out of the car, and making Denny look like a bad guy.

I feel bad for Almirola though. Poor guy. I don't think this kind of thing will happen again, though.

Fair,no.Hamlin is one of my favorite drivers and I like to see him win,but Almirola was doing a super job.How ever the all important sponsors wanted Denny to be in the can to win,to show their investment is paying off.
Chances are Almirola will be a free agent next year.

I don't think he wanted to do that to Almirola, but because of sponsors he had to finish the race. I'm not a particular fan of Denny but I give him props for giving Almirola credit for the win.

If I was Almirola I wouldn't want to talk to anyone either. He must have been heart broken.

I do not think it is right, it was only just that Almirola got credited with the win.

why in the he double ll hockey sticks are you blaming hamlin? he did not make the decision, it was his sponsor
plain and simple. they knew that they had the car to beat, and the wanted their main man on the winners circle. it's all about money and sponsorship now, it may suck, but in this sport that is just the way it is. just think of it this way , in the cup race 2 guys were caught cheating but they were still allowed to race while two guys actually qualified to race, with out having a cheating car, where sent home.nascar's logic never fails to defy logic. i guess they think we drink too much beer, and won't remember what the heck happened.
