my partner seems to be a compusive liar like the other day he went to the bookies and spanked 60 quid, what really pees me of is that i asked him if he had been and he said no. theres me trying to sort out our bills with non exiostent money , the stupid thing is like im not gonna know when the bank statement comes in . just wanted to know if a lot of men do this type of thing

Sure...men lie...women lie...everyone lies...is that a problem...?
Surely the extent of a lie is what bothers most people as lies can be for both good and for bad reasons. In all cases, a lie is simply a manner of hiding something...the bitter truth...!
If a man or woman should lie to his other half then it's obvious there is something more wrong than simply a lie between them...In your situation, his lie could be hiding several things...he may be a compulsive gambler, have hidden debts, running with bad company or possibly even entertaining another woman...!!!
Whichever it may be, he should never hold lies with you...a couple should have nothing to hide between themselves ever...no exceptions...!!! The strength of love is dependent upon total revealing, total surrender of all things good or bad with nothing ever to be held back...again, no exceptions...!
If you truly love him, speak to him and lay the facts on the table and settle it once and for all...
If you have doubts, ask yourself where you will be five years from now...get out now before you are deeper into it unless you are positive you can fix the problem he alone has created...
It does not seem so...
I wish for the best results for you...pain is not everlasting, only "real" love is...

what are bookies and quid. In general the same reason women lie. Its easier than telling the truth and less confrontational. Men hate drama. If you're a drama queen, expect your man to lie.

Men lie for the same reason that women do: We don't want something that we did/said/thought to be know by somebody else.
Your problem here is compounded by the fact that not only did he lie, but he is also stupid (since you were going to find out when the bank statement came).

I totally disagree with some of the statements that every one lies. I have had 3 serious relationships in my life with men and everyone of them ended up being a liar, the last one to such a degree that he destroys everyone and everything that comes in his path. I have always despised liars and so no all you guys out there, i dont lie, i dont need to . if i was gonna be that ashamed of something id done i had to lie , I wouldn't do it.

You're one of those girls attracted to the wallies of the world and there isn't much you can do about that. Maybe you have a low confidence in yourself and are not aiming for a better quality of guy. Maybe you don't feel you deserve a nice guy or you get bored. If this was in reverse, I would be serious pissed off because I like to know where I am and I don't feel secure living like that.
Maybe he is addicted to gambling, knows it isn't where he wants to be, but at the same cannot stop. He lies because he knows it to be foolish, he is ashamed and because he can. It is about being responsible and if you like unresponsible people you are going to get more of the same. Stop being insecure and set your sights higher.

They lie because they don't want you to know how predictable they are. Next time you catch him lying about money which should go towards paying the bills....call him on it. I've called my boyfriend out on a couple of lies and he just looked at me in disbelief then said you're not going to let me getaway with that are you? Let him think you're always watching him and paying attention. These kind of guys are really looking to get caught. They need discipline.

All people lie. Not just men. Even though men seem to tend to lie more than women. They lie more probably because females are more sensitive and don't always take things as good as they should. In your case, he was just being strange.

Both women and men lie, most of the time because they know they can get away with it. You should out your foot down and let him know that his behaviour is not only inconsiderate but it will also not be tolerated. People usually lie beause they think they will get away with something, if he knows you wont stand for it, he will be less compelled to lie.

to lie, it covers up the real truth, but lying makes the truth worse, they so lie more, until the truth and the lies are too much too handle...sweetie, almost everyone lies. I would try to talk to him or ask him how it would make him feel if u lied.
But, if he makes the biggest lie, then he isn't good enough for you. Or just dump him. But, wait until, u get ALL facts straight...also, sometimes lying can help, but it really doesn't...errr.............i think.

Well, I lie because my wife lets me. The minute she let down her guard, I slipped in and found out her weaknesses and took them to my advantage. As long as I can, I will. Okay, I am just kidding. I don't lie to my wife. But what I just said is exactly why. If we can get away with it, we will.
