If we are eternal servants of God, acording to all bonafide scriptures, then why do you ask God for materil things and to make all arrangements for your sense gratification. God I need this and that and can you do this and thayt? Why ask for bread and food when He is even giving the necessities to animals? We should be grateful, but why ask for Him to serve you? Do you ask Him dear God (Lord Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, etc) How may I serve You today? Do you know how to serve Him? Do yo know what He desires??? If you don't, Bhakti Yoga (devotional service to the Lord) is a nonsectarian process on how to serve God with love and devotion. Try it you'll like it. No need to change your religion. It's all there in Bhagavad Gita as it is By Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada.

Ray I don't need fanatical answers. God is one with Many Names. I happen to Call Him Krishna and many Christians Jehovah. Yes Christians can serve God(that is Bhakti), but the question is How?

Yes Nicole God supplies all of our needs we don't even have to ask. That is my point. No need to ask for if He is your husband as that is your mood with Him naturally He will provide all protection and everything. He is the Suprmeme Husband.

I don't ask ALLAH(SWT) for material desires. I am a slave of ALLAH(SWT) and only bow down to ALLAH(SWT). I try to be a good Muslim and follow the Qur'an and Hadiths and do my best to get to Jinnah. I ask ALLAH(SWT) to protect me, my husband, my mother in law, father in law, brothers in law, sisters in law, all my nephews and neices, my little brother, to be able to get custody of my little brother and little sister in case my mom dies so I can raise them as Muslims and make sure they get into Jinnah. I know that ALLAH(SWT) wants me to be a good Muslim and only worship HIM and not stray from the Straight Path.

It is not my habit to ask God for material things. I try to be a servant through helping others who are less fortunate, by donating food, buying things at Goodwill, Salvation Army, and a local thrift store which provides food for many locally. My profession is nursing. I help others in this way as well. I believe what he desires is Unity in Love. There isn't one religion that is correct. Helping others is a wonderful way to express love.

Both...I want to serve Him and rely on Him to supply all my needs..The Lord (at least the Christian one I follow) wants to supply all my needs and wants if they are within reason..I do not want him to serve me, I want Him to be my husband, the provider of all my needs mental, physical and emotional...please do not twist that I did not say sexual...
I do not pray Lord Send me a million dollars, but as a single soon to be mom (me and dad split) who has no help from dad...I ask the Lord to provide for my child and for me in all ways to be her Father since she will not have one here on earth (well who knows one day he's in the next he's out)... God has provided, I tithe 10% of the what I get, and the money keeps coming in...as well as Blessings in other ways!!! I don't know about the rest of them but My God shall and does supply all my needs...He is good to me!!!!!!!

The latter, I'd feel like I'm using Him unfairly if it was the former. He is more than just the granter of desires, He is the Supreme Lord and He deserves a bit more than just random prayers here and there.

True Christians (such as Jehovah's Witnesses) recognize that they must live a life of godly service in order to please God and Christ. Such service does NOT involve pleasing oneself, but a much more pure series of motivations.
Glorify God
...(1 Peter 2:12) As a result of your fine works of which they are eyewitnesses glorify God in the day for his inspection.
Action of holy spirit
...(Romans 8:9) God’s spirit truly dwells in you
...(1 Corinthians 2:12-13) Now we received... the spirit which is from God... These things we also speak, not with words taught by human wisdom, but with those taught by the spirit, as we combine spiritual matters with spiritual words.
Love for God
...(1 John 5:3) For this is what the love of God means, that we observe his commandments; and yet his commandments are not burdensome
Work with God
...(1 Corinthians 3:9) For we are God’s fellow workers
...(1 John 5:9) If we receive the witness men give, the witness God gives is greater, because this is the witness God gives, the fact that he has borne witness concerning his Son
Love for Christ.
...(John 21:17) [Peter] said to him: “Lord... you are aware that I have affection for you.” Jesus said to him: “Feed my little sheep.
Fear of God.
...(Revelation 14:7) Fear God and give him glory
...(1 Peter 2:17) Be in fear of God, have [and speak] honor for the king.
...(Acts 13:26) Among you who fear God, the word of this salvation has been sent forth to us.
...(Hebrews 12:28-29) Acceptably render God sacred service with godly fear and awe. For our God is also a consuming fire.
Fear of Christ
...(2 Corinthians 5:11) Knowing, therefore, the fear of the Lord, we keep persuading men
Friendship with Christ
...(John 15:14) [Jesus said] You are my friends if you do what I am commanding you
Christ's command
...(Matthew 28:19) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations
Christ's headship
...(Ephesians 4:15) But speaking the truth, let us by love grow up in all things into him who is the head, Christ.
Love for Neighbor.
...(Romans 10:14) However, how will they call on him in whom they have not put faith? How, in turn, will they put faith in him of whom they have not heard? How, in turn, will they hear without someone to preach?
Enjoyment.
...(Psalm 40:8) To do your will, O my God, I have delighted
Remain qualified for salvation
...(Philippians 2:12-13) Keep working out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for God is the one that, for the sake of his good pleasure, is acting within you in order for you both to will and to act.
Sense of fulfillment
...(John 4:34) My food is for me to do the will of him that sent me and to finish his work
Eventual reward
...(1 Corinthians 3:8) Each person will receive his own reward according to his own labor
...(Ephesians 6:8) You know that each one, whatever good he may do, will receive this back from Jehovah
Self-defense
...(Hebrews 3:13) Keep on exhorting one another each day, as long as it may be called “Today,” for fear any one of you should become hardened by the deceptive power of sin
Refute troublemakers
...(1 Peter 2:15) By doing good you may muzzle the ignorant talk of the unreasonable men
