Went to the doctor today...he said I could go into labor at anytime and I'm 2 cm dialated. I really don't want to wait around and wait for this to happen. Has anyone else tried to induce their labor and it worked...what did you do?

First of all, there are real benefits to waiting for labor to begin on its own, even if you are in the "safe zone" of past 37 weeks. Your baby just might not be ready to come out yet and needs more time to "cook". And a labor that begins before it is ready by using forceful methods like castor oil or teas/tinctures could be more painful than a labor that begins truly on its own.

That being said, the best natural ways are activity such as walking or housework (even through painful contractions), sex (with semen and orgasm if possible -semen is a natural prostaglandin that starts labor in all pregnancies) and nipple stimulation (with fingers, breastfeeding, or a pump).

Good luck!

Sex!! Lots of walking, bouncing on one of those work out balls, rocking back and forth on all 4's. The sex alone worked for me, but I have lots of friends who are into home-births and when they get 1-2 cm dialated they do all these things to hurry up the process. They all work for some people, doing a combination of things would up your chances! Good luck!

My doctor induced my labor...what was supposed to take 4 days took about 4 hours....I flat lined....they brought me back...started to hemorrage...they had to perform an emergency C-section and we both were in the hospital for almost a month and it took almost a full year for me to completely heal. Just stay the course....you'll be glad you did.

nipple stimulation. either you , your partner or a breast pump. Put me into labor about 2-3 hrs after I did it.
