Man, I went down this road for two years iwth my cat. It is tough. My cat may have had a different form: She had kidney disease because her infections were serious kidney ones, not just bladder ones. Many of the causes for this are easy to check for, I would look for a vet with experience in this area. But many cats are like mine, prone to infections for no good reason. We tried many treatments and nothing worked. Luckily, your cat only has bladder infections. And likely they can stop with the diet, since that often means your cat's Ph is alkaline, and needs to be made a little more acidic. There are a variety of diets for this disoder, so please ask your vet what else you can try. My sisters' cat has FLUDT and it kept coming back until she finally stuck to the antibiotics to get rid of the infection, and got her used to eating the food. Good luck! Try the stone group on yahoo groups, they are very helpful. I also succeeded in using homeopathics to clear up my cat's kidney stones.
PS, kidney disease is the opposite of FLUDT, it is when kitties are acidic. My kitty was a bone on the no=protein diets they give, and she did TONS better on Innova Lite. That is a special food you can get at stores OTC, and which has low phosphorous but not low protein. The reason vets prescribe low protein diets is to lower the phosphorous, but there are alterinatives that keep your cat healthier and give htem the protein they need. You can give the regular diet even, mixed iwth phosphorous binders that are very inexpensive. good luck. Please find out what the root cause is before you start treating, since if you treat a cat who has kidney disease with Fludt foods, they will get worse, and vice versa. Find a specialist.
And, if it is just infections with no FLUDT or kidney disease, your vet may consider prescribing lifetime antibiotics, which my cat was on for a time. It's a last option since it kills the immune system, but sometimes necessary. Always give acidopholis with antibiotics to protect the immune system, or your cat will never get over infections.
PS< sorry so long, but I cant tell for sure what answer you need. If you mean Science Diet SD instead of SO, that means your cat does have FLUDT or the kind of struvite bladder stones that are easily broken up with a diet. That would be a releif, as it is easy to care for, and there are tons of diets to choose from. good luck!

this is not any longer some thing you may restoration on your very own. you're able to call the vet and tell him what's been happening. it may desire to be some thing extra severe than a bladder an infection and he could run some checks. If he would not look worried approximately it, then i could call a distinctive vet and tell them each and every thing you have reported here. Your cat could desire to be suffering top now and you do no longer want that. as a ways because of the fact the money, that shouldn't even ingredient into it. Pets are like little ones...while you're gonna have them, be waiting to spend money! they get unwell and choose medical interest.

My 16 year old cat has the beginnings of kidney issues. At first she at the prescription food with no fuss...then she stopped eating. What worked for me was mixing her regular food with the prescription. First using more regular, and then gradually adding more prescription until thats all she ate. It's better that she was eating something rather than nothing. I really think it helped that she gradually got used to the taste of it.
Good Luck
