okay..since everyone is acting like its common sense to know..first off.. i was told by the 911 dispatcher a while back..that i shouldnt be calling that number unless im in a life threatening situation! no one was hurt..the person took a few things and ran.

Here is the number staright from LA PD's webpage:
1-877-ASK-LAPD
(1-877-275-5273)
Since it happened last night call the non-emergency number (listed above). If it was an emergency call 911.

Your first mistake was not reporting the robbery the second it was over. Now call 911 and file a police report. In L.A. a robbery is not going to be on the top of the police list unless 5 people were shot sadly.

OK - were you held up at gun point (or with some other weapon) or was your house burglarized, or what happened?
You need to contact your police non emergency phone numbr and make a report as soon as possible.
If you are in the city of Los Angeles you can call 1-877-ASK-LAPD for non emergency. It's a toll free number.
If you are in the county or some other city in the LA county area, look in the front of your white pages directory for your local non emergency numbers.

911. Be prepared to explain why you didn't report this when it happened. I find it hard to believe you don't know how to reach the police. What if you had needed emergency medical care, would you have known to call 911 for that?

to report it call the non emergency line and then call your local station and ask for extra patrols in the area ... do not call 911 - that is for life threatening in progress calls not for something that happened last night.
