Get a good leather leash and hold your dog closer to you - and keep moving! If he stops, snap the leash right away, and keep moving. Don't let the dog wander along at his own pace on a loose lead. You have to let him know it is walk time, not a`sniff and pee fest.

Unlike furniture, carpet and floors, you can't clean a plant well enough to remove the odor. So, your dog returns to the plants to remark his territory whenever the odor begins to fade. The best and least expensive solution is to put the plants in a place where the dog cannot get at them. Another solution is to buy a deterrent, either a motion sensor that scares the daylights out of him when he gets to close to the plants or a spray like SHOO! that has a discouraging smell. (You won't notice it but sometimes the dogs don't like it)

It is just his natural dog instinct, but let him know when you are walking it is you doing the walking and him walking with you. A good firm tug and keeping walking as soon as the leg goes up gets the message across. My dog knows that if he must pee on a bush he will get a good head start so by the time the leash is taut again he's done.

Because he has you trained. You need to learn about dog behavior and how to train your dog. Right now the dog is walking you. The dog is doing what it wants and not what you want and making you allow it. You need to be in charge. Obedience training, it will teach you how to be in control of your dog and be alpha. Very simple to take control of your dog.

you can't stop it. It is a dog natural way of marking what it thinks of as it's territory. You can reduce it by getting the dog spayed or neutered

Sometimes that is better with neutered dogs. If your dog is doing that it is because he is marking his territory. If he isn't neutered then try that.

Its a male thing. If he would have been neutered before he started marking, he wouldn't mark now.

Is he neutered? if not, neuter him. He is marking his territory to cover up scents left by previous dogs.
