yes, anything is possible if someone has access to your machine either by hacking over the internet, hacking your wireless router or having physical access.
There are many programs that can remotely control your computer for sale (eg microsoft access) and a good hacker could modify these programs and do pretty much anything to your machine. If you have the software already installed then that just makes it easier.

I dont know how, but I've heard of ppl mailing scripts to computers on intranets which turns the camera on everytime someone logs on... talk to a software engineer..

Yeah there is but it requires you persuading them to install a little hack on their system, maybe disguised as a game or something.
Can't remember much about lame hacking since I aged over 17 :)
