the one i got on friday is quite large and although the parts that hurt worst when getting it done (shoulder blade, spine, hip) barely hurt the parts over more fleshy areas are in alot more pain than i've ever experienced after a tattoo. any ideas why that might be?

Everyone is different and even your own body is different.
No one can tell you not to get a tat in a certain place because
it hurt them. You might not mind it there at all.
Sounds like you never got a tat in that area before, so, you
would experience a different sensation.
It will also depend on how much detail there was. The more
single needle detail, the sooner the area will become numb.
Then when the shading and color is added, it doesn't feel
bad at all.
Now you'll know what your in for if you get one on the other
side.

Maybe some parts of your skin are just more sensitve than others. Hopefully the pain goes away soon for you sake. New tattoos can be sore for a few days as you know. If it doesn't get well soon, I'd go back to the tattoo shop you got it done at and have them take a look, and let them know whats going on. Good luck.

Some part of the needle may have touched a nerve on the spine. If that happens you are really in trouble and you better see a neurologist quick. If it keeps getting worse, you better pray that the president starts funding stem cell research again as that will be the only way to rebuild that nerve.

its probably nothing to worry about, just take some tylenol or you can try benadryl if you find it swollen. I have 10 tattoos and usually get pain in the fleshy part too. Not sure what it is. Just make sure you keep it moist with neosporin. Good Luck!

Make an appointment with your doctor to make sure you haven't gotten anything infected. Meanwhile, take some ibuprophen (Advil) and drink lots of water to help ease the pain.

Why not avoid getting tattoos? You looked fine to begin with, and if you change your mind on your body art, it's a lot of work to get them erased.

THERE'S MORE MUSCLE & TISSUE WHERE IT HURTS MORE AND IS MORE FLESHY. KINDA' LIKE IF SOMEONE ACCIDENTALY HITS YOU IN THE BREASTS. THINK OF HOW MUCH THAT HURTS...WHERE AS WHEN SOMEONE HITS YOU ON YOUR ARM (WHERE THERES MORE BONE THATN MUSCLE/TISSUE) IT DOESN'T HURT THAT MUCH AT ALL.
