So my husband and I are moving mid August from VA to OK? It is a 21 hour drive and we were planning to drive there with us, a newborn, and my two cats (who HATE the car). Now he is saying that we are going to fly bc it would be much easier. But I am worried about my cats. It is hot and I read that they just throw the animals around. I am so confused on what to do. WIll someone please advice me, I would appreciate it. My cats are HUGE babies and momma(me) babies at that!

you would be better off driving as the airlines treat your animals like crap I had one of my dogs die 6 days after getting off a plane will never fly with an animal again would rather drive at least I know they will get there without dying 6 days later . good luck . yeah it is a 21 hr drive but your cats health is worth it .

You can take them on the plane with you as long as you are not flying southwest airlines. The fee is about $80 per cat. I did this last year when I moved and it was a breeze.
Also, despite what you may hear about tranquilizing them for the trip, it is not advisable because these meds have never been tested at extreme altitudes and have the side effect of slowing respiration. It is thought that extreme altitude would intensify these effects. Wanted to pass that along just in case.

There our some airlines that do just throw the animals around, but try to research different airlines and i am sure that you will find one the doesn't harm the animals like others, and you could also consider to go to your vet and get medicine to calm your cats on your flight. If you decide to drive instead it would still be great for your cats, they would be a lot better off.
Good luck

I definitely have traveled alot with my cats and right here is what i be attentive to...so some distance as foodstuff you're able to sign a assertion pointing out that they have got had foodstuff interior the final 12 hours...additionally maximum airlines require that each and each animal has a water bowl attatched to the door of the cage so as that the workers can furnish the animal water...additionally each and each cage has to have some style of asorbant textile interior the cage for spills whether it is a domestic dog pad or a small clutter container with clutter (i stumble on that cedar bedding works terrific whilst flying with cats for clutter or use pussycat pine clutter in a small clutter container)..additionally if the cats are over the age of 6 months they each and each could have their own cage...stable good fortune...
