it's pricey only if u want to drop a 5.4 gt500 engine in there.
the engine is $15 000 and $2 000 (min) for installation.

u better supercharge it for $ 7 000 or twin turbocharge for $10 000.
be sure to stay with intercooled power adder. hahaha cause you dont want to blow up your engine.
dont exceed 500 horses on a motor - it's only good for that. if u do more, you'r just waiting for it to die.

Im not sure if you just didnt phrase you question correctly, but you do not want to replace your engine. Just add to it. Go with either a whipple or kenne bell supercharger. I personally prefer kenne bell. You can go to there web site for the exact price but if you are going to have it installed from start to finish you are probally looking at 5-7k. Keep in mind that your motor is not a "built" motor. Meaning it does not have cast iron or forged internals so I wouldnt go above 500 or 550 hp if I were you. That is about the hp level where engines that arent built start throwing rods and have other issues. If you are dead set on replacing your engine you can either get a 03/04 cobra engine out of a totalled cobra (the 03/04 cobras have a built 4v per cylinder head engine as where your engine is only a 3v per cylinder). Or you can buy a 5.0L built short block engine from a couple of different companys for about 3700. The cobras are only a 4.6 so with the 5.0 you can expect about 50-80 more hp just because of the increased displacement.

Starting with the new Mustang GT motor it would be pretty pointless to buy a brand new motor. I would simply upgrade the one you have currently with a turbo, supercharger, or nitrous. I'm guessing from the way you phrased the question that a supercharger would be the best bet for you.

The super charger would offer awesome off the line acceleration, easier install then a turbo or nitrous, and is often more reliable. Also depending on just how much HP you really want and what trim of supercharger you get you will probably want to get all the accompanying bolt ons for the car. Anyone who can install a supercharger will be able to guide you in what bolt ons youll want as well.

Anywhere from $4000 to $7000 depending on the setup that you choose to go with. Kenne Bell and FRPP sell intercooled twin screw supercharges for just under $6000 Kenne Bell advertises 538hp at the crank. Ford is just shy of that but probably due to a more conservative tune. There are single stage turbo kits available for about the same price that throw out the same hp maybe a touch more. Cyntrifical SC's are a bit less expensive and can net the same hp with the proper dyno tune. Due to the changes involving some of the plumbing on the '07 you may have to wait a bit for the correct kits to come out.
I have a Kenne Bell 2.6L and the install instructions were top notch. Haven't got it dynoed yet so I can't give you any first hand numbers.

If you want a Car that will be a head-turner 5, 10, 20 years down the road go with the cobra...or if you just want a car that can whoop on a bunch of piles of Sh^t that think their little ricer is fast. Trust me, I just sold my '03 Mustang Gt with a bunch of mods to get something more practical for nebraska weather (an '02 accord) and i regret it with every inch of my body. The feeling of being thrown back in your seat, and thats even without the supercharger. I have already decided that I'm saving my money up and not making another mistake and buying an '03 or '04 Cobra in Sonic Blue or Jet Black. whats the motto: "GO big or GO home"...wish i woulda known that 4 years ago! Whatever you pick, you will be happy...Never had one problem with my mustang, at least one i couldn't fix myself.

Your best bet would be to trade it in and get a Shelby GT500. Those will come with the 500hp engine and the suspension, and transmission to go with it. when you add 200hp over stock you have other things to consider, besides the engine. I've seen the new Shelby's and they are sharp. It might take some work to get one, and you may have to travel some distance to get a dealer to work with you, but in the end, it will be worth it. Good luck.

About $7000 if you are mechanically inclined, install a Roush or Saleen supercharger kit. I would personally recomend the Roush since your driveline will still have warranty then. I have had several customer with the Roush systems and everyone of them loved the performance.
