My 8 month old was outside for less than 1/2 an hour yesterday with water babies spf 50 on and her little legs still got sunburned! Can I use aloe? Anything else I can do to help her feel better?

aloe is good, sterile paraffin wax will also help - reapply every 4-6 hours

paraffin creates a seal stopping water leaving the body and reduces pain as it protects sensitised nerves. the paraffin imitates the natural oils secreted by the skin. skin cells are better able to multiply and regenerate with this treatment. pain is also helped. make sure you buy plenty of this paraffin - as the burn heals switch to aqueous cream bp.

brands/alternatives are available in your area

Yes, you can use aloe. Make sure it is 100% aloe. A soft cloth soaked in cool water and then pressed on her little legs will also help take some of the heat out of the burn.

A cool bath will help get rid of the heat and the aloe should be good also.

Regular aloe with out Lidocaine should be fine provided she does not have any allergies to aloe and does not attempt to eat it. Try to keep her hydrated and it should pass, but keep an eye out for rashes and irritation.

Call your pharmacy and ask them if you can use it. If you have an aloe vera plant breaking it open and using that works better than the gel they sell at the pharmacy. How about calling you pediatrician. Good Luck and I hope she feels better.

i'm not a peditrician but i've been there with my kids, i used aloe on them and they were fine. read the label first if it says not to use it on children under a certain age than i wouldnt use it on my baby. but keeping her distracted and cool works just fine and you dont even need aloe. as long as she's not hot she will be fine.
