I own a toshiba dvd player. When i plug the dvd player, it reads, "rom ng". What is this?

I also can not open the player to remove the dvd inside. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi there. See if there is a tiny hole in the centre of the disc tray and if there is straighten a paper clip and gently insert the clip which should release a mechanism to manually open the tray.Let me know how you go.(Not all players have this feature)

Do you have a DVD-ROM or CD-ROM disc inside your machine ?

I have found others with the same problems (DVD tray won't open and ROM NG display) but they have not been answered.
