You're kidding, right? Although I'm inclined to chuckle about your question, I suppose from an etiquette's point of view, there must be a right and wrong way to eat a float. Here are some options:

1.Drink the soda slowly, allowing the ice cream to melt as you go. Eat the ice cream last.
2. Eat the ice cream first, drink the soda last
3. Drink some of the soda and mix the ice cream in to make a rootbeer "freeze".
4. Eat the ice cream, drink the soda and add an oatmeal raisin cookie to your dessert.

Doesn't matter how you eat it as long as you enjoy it!

To really enjoy your float, you'll want a long-handled spoon and a wide straw. Use the straw to drink the liquid after you've mixed your float with the spoon, and then use the spoon to scoop up an remaining ice cream.

Enjoy!

you eat it like ice-cream but if you wait a couple minutes the float will go off if that's what you are asking about.

I usually take the straw out and spear some ice cream, then suck the ice cream and some soda through it. Gets you both flavors in one easy sip!
