In the past, the main thrust of the Holocaust/Genocide Project's magazine, An End To Intolerance, has been the genocides that occurred in history and outside of the United States. Still, what we mustn't forget is that mass killing of Native Americans occurred in our own country. As a result, bigotry and racial discrimination still exist.

"By conservative estimates, the population of the United states prior to European contact was greater than 12 million. Four centuries later, the count was reduced by 95% to 237 thousand.

Each and EVERY 4th of July my people cry, we pray, we dance. Yet you want us to "just forget it, it was in the past"
That's the difference between people WITH a culture us enrolled dog papered skins and them pass for white got no clue or roll number kinda 'natives'.
"it was 100 years ago, it's history" or "it's just human nature" or "they were a stagnant culture" <--- that one cracked me up!! All you whities are tryin to go GREEN these day's ennit? Maybe just maybe WE were doin that hundreds of years ago, and WE were the ones ahead??
Human nature, What about LOYALTY?? the hand that feeds you. . . .

My opinion, this was NOT a HOLOCAUST look up the meaning. This IS GENOCIDE, yes IS, as in STILL happening TODAY. Casino tribes across the country are cutting their tribal rolls in order to get bigger shares, less people more money. Once those members are cut, in the Govt. eyes "no longer indian" they don't qualify for ANY programs, nothing. not even substandard IHS health care.

It's NOT 'history" if it happened right next to you. How can you change it, Real Simple. . . Next skin you meet just say "i apologize for my ancestors crimes against you"
It's that simple. This Govt won't even acknowlege that it did anything wrong. ONE simple apology is worth more than all the funding in the world.

First, the American Indian is not "native" to the continent. Their ancestors migrated from what is now Siberia across the Aleutian Islands. They've just been here a little longer.

Second, the founding fathers, realizing they had treated the earlier settlers of this continent poorly, made special concessions to them because they were sorry for the way they treated them. But the people who committed the depredations against the Indian are dead. So are all those against whom the depredations were committed. No amount of special privileges will right the wrong. It should suffice that we don't kill Indians any more. To hold a grudge because of something that occurred 150-200 years ago,is asinine. We don't hold a grudge against the Japanese or the Germans.

Third, historically, a conquering nation pretty much keeps pounding the conquered country until it gives up. It may not seem fair... especially to the conquered. But that's the way land used to be taken. What we did to the Indians was regrettable, It may be appalling to one who is "hung up" on it. But, as I said, we learned from our mistakes and no longer kill them.

Fourth, we cannot forget our history. To suggest otherwise is moronic. Some of it is not admirable. If you read your history, you will find that after we defeated the Indians, we weren't done. We had to learn, by a war that divided our country, that we couldn't persecute Blacks... whatever their origins. And then we persecuted the Jews, then the Irish, and then the Chinese, then the Japanese. In fact historically, the last batch of immigrants persecuted the next. But each batch of immigrants learned the language, adapted to their new culture, became citizens, fought in our wars, and worked to better their adopted country.

As I am 3/4 white and 1/4 am. indian yes I think it was horrible. But it is in the past and done, and there were atrocities on both sides.
Many of your questions on here I have read show a preference for the Mexican issues, and when I look at your profile I can't understand most of the ones there as they are in Spanish. How can you live with the guilt of knowing that long before the English came to N. America, the Spanish were here showing the world how to really wipe out native nations while getting rich off their slavery.

Most of that lost population was due to the plagues that swept the continent not long after initial contact with Europe. Had that been intentional, it might well have been the most successful use of biological warfare in history. Europeans of the time, though, didn't understand what diseases were or how they were transmitted, so they can't take credit for that.

With part Native American and European ancestry I'm having trouble figuring out who you want me to be angry with. Myself? Do I owe myself money or a good *** kicking? Or both? Do Mexicans hate being part Spaniard? All of this was so long ago. Although we shouldn't forget I'm at a loss as to what any of us are supposed to do about it now. Any ideas?

You find someone from that era still living and I'm sure the USA will pay reparations. If you can't...that's called history.
Let's talk about Mexico trying to exterminate entire tribes of indigenous natives a lot more recently...

I think the self loathing Marxist agenda is to weaken the US, is as it has always been. Because weaker cultures are always absorbed by the stronger we have always seen them disappear into the larger stream of the stronger culture. Gangs make a lot of use out of cultural differences in hopes of justifying their existence & furthering their criminal activities.
I'm upset because as a Cherokee I was denied my right to hunt down a Catawaba & kill him to prove my manhood.

The events were simply typical of all the world's history - a weaker peoples are pushed off their lands and/or killed by a stronger, more populous, more technologically advanced peoples. No apologies needed - it is simply human nature.
