...of a lemming of the RRR Cult to ignorantly and desperately denigrate and disparage atheists? For NO factual reason that they could ever cite.

Talk about people who have NO lives! (LOL!!)

(And I'm a Christian, so have no ax to grind here. It is good for society to learn and remember that 83% of Americans are *professing* Christians. OF that vast number, only 6% are the PSEUDO-Christian bigots of the loathsome RRR Cult. The **other** 94% of Americans who profess Christianity are your very normal, non-obnoxious, tolerant, and workaday friends and neighbors.

To "Über-Atheist" -- If you're really an M, wrap your mind around this: NOT all fundamentalist Christians are RRR cultists. MANY fundamentalists are people who have no trouble distingishing between the things in the Bible that should be taken literally, and the things that are probable analogues.

Mensa accepts the Miller Analogies Exam for entrance with good reason. There is a strong correlation between IQ and the ability to interpret and draw analogies. Most of the RRR cultists wouldn't know an analogy if they tripped over it... and that is one of the primary factors that makes them susceptable to the propagandizing and scare tactics employed for recruitment by the RRR Cult's crafty and deceptive leadership oligarchy.

To "Printninja" -- I think you'd be VERY surprised at what you could learn about me from my best friend -- who happens to be an atheist.

To "Tirya_is_Wiccan_Retarded" -- How about that? Someone who knows that "skyclad" means nude. NOW all you need to do is learn that stodginess and hang-ups are *not* the hallmark of most normal Christians. Such afflictions are FAR more common to the pseudo-Christians of the RRR Cult.

Yes, I think each group is guilty here. Let he who is without sin cast the firs stone.

I do sometimes use "Christians" to adress what would be more accurately described as Fundamentalists/Dogmatists/and religious-right Evangelicals.

I will try hence forth to be more prescise with my language, or at least as much as space allows.

Well, to be fair, the remainder of the 'questions' that include the word atheist on here are actually thinly veiled (or not so thinly) self congratulatory, smug professions of atheistic superiority.

Speaking as an atheist, I can definitely see how the smug postings by atheists might provoke a few of the denigrating posts by Christians (and others).

While I think you stated your position well, I agree with Uber above me... once you've declared to the world that you indulge in faith based thinking (i.e. Christianity), you've basically undermined your legitimacy in the eyes of the critical thinker (i.e. atheist.)

That's not to say you're not a nice person, but WHAT you say will always be highly suspect... at least in my eyes.

EDIT: So email me. I'd be happy to learn about you.

I think it's pretty even both ways. There are plenty of "non-question questions to go around." But it's nice to see some healthy critique of some of the religious wing nuts on here:)

It's always the fringes of a group that tend to give the group a bad name.

We need more people like you here, Roadrat.
