I can't speak for California, but in the county I work in and the city I live in the average plain ticket is 99-110$ providing that it did not take place in a school zone or construction area.
Furthermore, it will/would be higher if anything else was added to the ticket such as seat belt or vehicular safety infraction. From the sounds of it though that wasn't a problem, so don't worry about that.
Finally depending on how much of the ticket is given to you personally, you can look for a comments or remarks box. Most* officers (around here anyway) if they are in a good mood and you are appologetic, curteous, and kind to an officer they usually put a good word in for you on the ticket, which may reduce the fine. Espeshally since this is your first time offense.

Depending on the city and state, anywhere from $45-$125. It's too bad that happened but at least there was no accident. (BTW it should say somewhere on the ticket what the fee is, since they prefer that you mail in the payment.)

Ha - they busted me last week to doing 37 in a 35.
They actually got me a seatbelt violation, and my front plate was covered by a vanity plate holder, and you couldn't the "grass" on the state license plate. Then, the MoFo cop got me for doing 37 in a 35.
I go to court tommorrow!
But yours - yeah, I think that is a little fast! Typically, anything over 5 mph is "fair game".

check on the back of your ticket for 15mph over the speed limit, and it will tell you how much your ticket is for
Since it is your 1st ticket, look into taking a defensive driving course so that the ticket wont go on your record & your insurance wont be higher in the future.
