All restaurants cook with salt.

You may always request that an item be made with no salt, but many dishes simply cannot be prepared without. Marinades and sauces are premade, butter is almost always salted butter, salad dressings always have salt, and even spice rubs will contain salt 99% of the time. Every dessert on every menu of every kitchen I have ever worked has salt in the recipe.

You are better off requesting that your meal be prepared with no ADDITIONAL salt, or ask your server to speak with the chef and ask WHICH meals could be prepared with little to no salt.

This weekend where I work, a guest asked that the quiche be prepared with no onion. She simply couldn't understand why we couldn't do that for her, and grew upset. But we would have had to make an entire pie and it would have taken more than an hour.

Go with the understanding that every dish contains a little salt, some can be prepared without and others cannot, and most restaurants will cater to your dietary needs as well as they can.

You can request that the food you order be unseasoned and salt free. Most, if not all, restaurants will abide by the customers request for seasoning changes.

I did not think any of them used salt but to be sure when you order some thing tell them no salt, I do that at Mc Donald's all the time when I get f.f. because they put to much on so I get salt free fries, try it .
