I have a 2 month old. Border collie female humps once a great while. Its embarassing to see her do that. Is there a way I can make her to stop humping?

Yes, female dogs hump. My female lab humps a lot. What you need to understand is that humping in the dog world is more often a dominance or social activity than a sexual one.

Female dogs that hump a lot are normally dogs that believe themselves to be dominant (like my dog!) in extreme cases they may even lift their legs to pee like a male dog (like my dog!).

While many people think humping is embarassing to watch etc you have to accept that it is be a normal doggy behavior. Young puppies will normally go through a period of testing the waters and will hump other dogs to establish their rank within a social pack. She is basically testing another dog and seeing if it will accept her as dominant.

Over dominant females can be troublesome (like my dog!) because they don't know when to stop. My dog will snarl if another dog tries to mount her, especially another female. She is older though (6) and I know what to watch for and that this is an issue with her. Your dog is young and most likely will find her social place and it will stop.

Stopping a dog from humping another dog can cause problems because the dogs did not have a chance to establish their social order. As embarassing as it might seem as long as she isn't being obsessive about it, let her do it.

Indeed they do, and it's quite normal. My girl had a phase where she tended to hump other dogs, when she was reaching adulthood, but it passed. Generally, I'd say it's not something you have to make a fuss over. If she's humping you, or other people, tell her "no" if you have taught her that, and take her gently away and try to draw her attention to something else. If she is humping other dogs, they might allow it since she's so young, but later on if she still do it they will most probably let her know that it's not ok.

To sum it up: don't worry, she'll probably stop it on her own.

there's not really anything you can do about it. We have 2 jack russells brother and sister they would take turns humping eachother until we got them fixed the only thing we could do was tell them no

just get after her whenever she does that, we got a dog from the pound that did that, but we told her to stop any time we saw her do it and she never does it any more..
