No it isnt a bad weight. The average weight for a cat is 7-10lbs. So the 3yrold cat is in good shape.

It depends on the size of the cat, but since the average cat weight is 7.7-8.8lb I would say this is very likely to be a normal weight.

Normal weight is judge more on the shape and appearance of the animal. So long as your cat has a waist line and you can feel but not see his ribs, I'm sure he's fine. Actually, he'd have to be a very, VERY big cat for 8lb to be underweight, or a very VERY small cat for 8lb to be overweight! Check out this diagram for what an ideal cat's shape is:

8lbs. is not a bad weight for a 3 yr. old cat!! I have a 15 lb. cat who is 11yrs. old and the vet said she is perfectly fine. But if you are worried about it get some of the weight- loss cat food and that should help a little.

It depends on your cat. Some cats are small, some are large. Maine Coon cats can be healthy at 15+ lbs, while Turkish Angoras can be as small as 5lbs.

I had a cat that was very petite -- she only weighed 6lbs. The cat I currently have weighs 11lbs, and he's the perfect weight for how big he is.

So long as your cats bones aren't sticking out, or it's not becoming rotund, I'd say your cat is a good weight.

That's perfect. Your cat is considered an adult, so an acceptable weight would be anywhere from 6.5 to 11 pounds.

not at all. sounds like this is about average. if the cat is healthy & active, s/he should be just fine. just keep up w/regular vet visits & shots. the vet will tell you if/when your cat needs to lose weight.

It depends on breed and gender. But, I think it wouldn't hurt for your cat to gain 1 or 2 pounds.
