Macs CAN get viruses and all the other bad stuff, but there are FAR FEWER that can 'infect' them;

Apple has set prices, so they cost the same no matter where you buy them, but there are bundle deals and student discounts (buy a MacBook, get an iPod, etc);

Limewire does have a Mac version;

AppleCare is an extended warranty program, not an internet security program -- those are available, though (and I'd guess that McAfee has one, but it may not be the best, I'd research it before spending any extra $$);

As long as you have an active internet connection you can start surfing immediately -- you may need to install software depending on your connection type (e.g. cable modem vs. dial-up vs. DSL, etc.);

Yes, Yahoo! Messenger has a Mac version;

Neither of my Macs have any scratches, but they are desktops LOL! Wherever you purchase the computer there will be several case options, or just do a web search and you'll find MANY;

Macs boot-up much more quickly than PCs, to Sleep, Restart or Shut Down, you click on the little blue Apple in the top left corner of the menu bar, and the options are all there -- it then asks you to confirm your choice to proceed immediately,or will countdown for how long you have to click the Cancel button if you change your mind.

For the love of god, get a PC. Unless you enjoy a computer that limits you in nearly every way possible in the name of simplicity. Macs are slick, but they can't perform like PC's can. They lack versatility. Ok, that's my two cents/points.
