The only thing I know of that might make reference to this is when Jesus spoke of modesty, not being overly adorned with gold and jewels and heavily braided hair, but be adorned in modesty. It is in some of the letters of the New Testament in instructions on being a good wife.
I know lots of people of lots of religions, and have never heard it is banned, but I would say if you have one or two modest earrings, it would be okay. Blantant or overdone piercings are quite offensive to many people, and may be considered as disrespectful, or drawing too much attention to yourself when you should be concentrating on your message.
On the other hand, I really don't think God or Jesus would ever turn a person away based on their appearance, so it isn't a policy that should be enforced with hatred by church members.
In all things, moderation is the key. And the main reason to go to church is to get the message of hope that the Bible provides.

well, females, I don't have a problem with doing that. the men wearing earrings thing came out of the practices of early religions during the times Israel was at war and learned from the surrounding peoples.
so it can be seen as guys being effeminate, or Christians giving into worldly things. I have no real opinion on it though. I just think a guy having two earrings (especially if not small studs) looks effeminate....

If it doesn't say it's clearly wrong in the bible, then it's fine.
You have to be clear about something.
There are rules in the Bible true, but how closely people follow them varies dramatically.
Only those very clear laws can be discussed in terms of "right and wrong."
Then there are rules many religious people create for themselves based on their OWN INTERPRETATION of what it says in the bible.
These rules, like some religions don't allow dancing, are not biblical.
To follow or not follow such rules (and any rule regarding earrings would not be a biblical rule) depends on how much of your life you feel you need to be directed by your church leaders.
If you feel it best to let your church leaders direct the little things in your life, and they say no earrings than you shouldn't.
If you feel yourself competent to make decisions on such things, than you do what you want.
Whether it is right or wrong is entirely up to your own sense of need to have others tell you what is right and wrong.

Depends on the denomination. One church I went to wouldn't let girls wear jewelry at all (including wedding bands) and no cutting of the hair and no way could we wear short skirts, (don't even think about makeup or jeans!) and also we were not allowed to wear shirts with a logo or design on the front.
But my own opinion is that God made us and accepts us as we are, if you do not wear the jewelry to draw attention to yourself and away from God, then, by all means, wear it.

I don't know where people find the scripture that says not to wear earrings or pierce the ears.
I have seen plenty of female ministers wear earrings to church & plenty of ministers wives with pierced ears.
As for boys/ men with pierced ears, not my type, but if they want to wear an earring & it was small & tasteful, that's fine too. I have seen a male minister who had a tiny single diamond earring.
I think God has plenty of other issues to worry about in this world aside from earrings. Famine, war, murder, genocide.....

If your church or God are worrying about what you wear in your ears, that is taking time away from them worrying about your soul and your spirit. God is the master of all, including earrings. Bigger question: is it right to be "Christian" and support war( In God's eyes)..........?

Why would God care about something that meaningless? Earrings don't have anything to do with the kind of person you are inside or the relationship you have with God. I don't think God cares about earrings, tattoos, or anything else like that. If you are a good person with a good heart and good intentions, then God will see that. That's all that really matters.

I don't think it is a big deal to wear earrings to church even if you are a guy. We tend to put too much emphasis on the outward appearance and not the condition of the heart.

I don't think God really cares what jewelry you wear. You have to follow the rules of any institution though and if you church doesn't allow earrings just don't go there.
