Repairing old poor credit is not a fast fix. So do not rush into spending money on getting another report.

To fix it, make sure everything is paid ABSOLUTELY ON TIME preferably a little early. Any old collections or late accounts MUST be brought current.

Then work with the credit bureau to make sure what they are showing on your report actually belongs to you.

Do not apply for ANY credit at all while you are trying to fix it and raise your scores. Every time it is checked it will drop a little.

Equifax. It is $7.95 a month per person and you have access to your credit score at all times. For only two dollars more it will show you what other agencies have on you as well. It will send you emails if your score changes and has other alerts that you can set. My wife and I have been using it for over a year and love it.

The best way to fix your score is to keep a small balance on your credit cards and pay them off every month. Don' t keep high balances on your cards b/c it will only hurt your score. You want to have no more than half of what you are allowed on a credit card at one time. Unfortunately, it is easier to hurt your score than to fix it.

Don't worry about the report, just pay the new bills on time and chip away at the old debt.
Plastic surgury (cutting up your cards) is the best way to improve your score.
