i think you pretty much have everything down. you will also probably be asked by the bride to attend things with her and help make decisions. she will probably invite more than just hte MOH more opinions is better.

As for the gift, money is always welcomed but, if you want to do an actual gift, why not do something really personal like making a scrapbook or something? You could always give money and a small gift.
You're job is to help the maid of honor plan the bachelorette party and the bridal shower[s]. Also, be a form of emotional support. If she needs somebody to help look for a dress or shoes, offer to go. Offer to help address invitations and such. Things like that are always greatly appreciated.
As far as what you help pay for, that depends on the situation. For the shower, you could offer to bring food or something. The best thing to do is talk to the maid of honor and the other bridesmaid[s] and decide that way.

well I think that you have to be there for the bride to cry to while planning or listen to, also help the Matron with the bachelorette party. Help her with all the duties she may have to do, and get her something specail that is a reminder of how much she means to you. Also.... I have 6 bridesmaids including my maid of honor, and dont make the wedding about you. It pisses the bride off! (can you tell what I am going through) Just be there for her. Thats the advise I can give from someone who is in the middle of planning a wedding. GOOD LUCK!

You have to:
Buy and wear an ugly dress
Buy a comparable ugly and useless pair of matching shoes
Help the Matron of Honor host the Bridal Shower
Buy a gift for the Bridal Shower
Help organize and pay your share of the Bachelorette Party
Attend the wedding rehearsal
Attend the rehearsal dinner
Have your hair and make up done on the wedding day
Show up on time and stand for her
Buy a wedding gift (yes, it's different from the bridal shower gift)
Support her emotionally
Help her pick the dress and the BM dresses and go to the fittings.
And last, but not least, put up with endless wedding talk for the next 6 months with a grin.
Good luck

Here is an article from theknot.com that outlines your duties as a bridesmaid with a little humor added!
The bridesmaid is an integral part of any wedding, on hand to comfort, console, multitask, and party hearty at all bridal event(s). Whether it's your first bridesmaid gig or your 50th, here's a cheat sheet of your to-dos.
Offer to help with prewedding tasks. Try to be specific when you volunteer. For example, say, "Would you like me to help you shop for bridesmaid dresses/stuff invitations/pack for the honeymoon?" instead of just, "What can I do?"
Scout out bridesmaid dresses, shoes, jewelry, and other accessories. Pay for the entire ensemble. (Break in your shoes before the wedding day -- that will minimize slipping, blisters, and aching tootsies.)
Help to plan, cohost, and pay for the shower and bachelorette party with other bridesmaids.
If the maid/matron of honor isn't already handling this task, keep a record of all the gifts received at various parties and showers (so that the bride/couple can write thank-you notes); maintain RSVP lists.
Attend the ceremony rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. (Keep abreast of all prewedding parties, and go to as many as possible.)
Run last-minute errands. On the day of the wedding, be on hand to confirm flower delivery times, meet and greet the ceremony officiant, or satisfy junk food cravings.
Stand in the receiving line at the bride's request.
Serve as auxiliary hostess at the reception by introducing guests, making sure they know where the bar is located, and inviting them to sign the guest book.
Hit the dance floor when the music kicks in. Dance with groomsmen during the formal first-dance sequence. Also, be on the lookout for toe-tapping guests who might need encouragement and/or a dance partner.
Give the maid/matron of honor a break by helping to carry the bride's train whenever necessary. Bustle the train before dancing begins, and be ready to help fix it if it comes unhooked. Accompany the bride on visits to the restroom, if asked.
Purchase a wedding present perhaps with one or several of the other bridesmaids. This provides more buying power, and two heads are better than one when it comes to gift ideas. Sometimes the entire bridesmaid troupe pitches in for one knock-her-socks-off wedding gift.
Be a trooper, no matter how stressful the ordeal becomes. Try not to complain about the bridesmaid dress -- even if the color is horrendous. Be gracious and tactful.
Provide plenty of emotional support during the planning and on the wedding day.

Here's a couple of tips.
Help the bride plan her wedding.
Listen to her plans with a smile on your face.
Make time for group dress shopping trips and fittings.
Pay for your bridesmaid’s dress, even if you hate it. You can let your feelings be known but the bride has the final call on what you wear.
Help addresses and assemble wedding and shower invitations.
Help wrap and tag guest favours and Bombonniere.
Help the Maid of Honour plan & pay for a shower or stagette.
Attend the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.
Help decorate ceremony and reception locations if necessary
Stand in the receiving (optional)
Sit at the head table
Have a dance with the groomsmen
Offer to help the Maid of Honour when needed.
Help load gifts into car.
Help with clean-up at the end of the night (for all the different events)
Enjoy.

Everything you've mentioned is all there is to do unless you are having a bridal shower to, then the bridesmaids would help the MOH put that together. I think if you can find something special on their registry go ahead and get that, if not give them cash.

they're form of like general bridesmaid responsibilities on steroids. I, for one, could on no account placed that a lot money right into a bridal bathe. assisting to establish the venue is particularly basic. yet i'm speaking approximately putting bows on chairs, not putting each and each table. Taking down wedding ceremony stuff is general, yet you may desire to not be cleansing or something. The gown is particularly basic. And the trip spot wedding ceremony factor is particularly par for the direction. i think of she's asking various you, yet i don't experience that bridesmaids might desire to be taken care of like employed help nor do i think of they might desire to be envisioned to throw events that fee that a lot money. It sounds like your buddy is having a trip spot wedding ceremony to maintain her expenses down, yet having you throw a brilliant bathe to act as a '2nd wedding ceremony' devoid of having to pay for it. when I have been given married, I asked my bridesmaids to %. up their telephones when I suggested as to rigidity out. it is approximately it. i did not do a bachelorette occasion and my MIL threw me a tub. We went gown procuring some cases - yet it is with the help of the fact they had diverse fee factors and that i had to locate a gown for each of them that extra healthful into their budgets. i assume my maid of honor helped me with meal enjoying cards, yet that had extra to do with the certainty she grow to be my sister and much less to do with any form of MOH identify. Little sisters are envisioned to do some indentured servitude each on occasion.
