The easiest thing to do is to make a pitcher of strong black tea & let it cool. Then use it as a rinse for your hair.

Rosemary is thought to darken hair. You can make a tea to use as a final rinse or use rosemary oil.

Rosemary Hair Rinse
1 oz Rosemary leaves
1 pint Water
4 teaspoons Borax

Infuse Rosemary in boiling water in a covered, enamel pot until liquid has cooled. Strain and add borax. Use cold as a hair rinse. http://possumsal.homestead.com/Hair/ROSEMARY2.html

Rosemary Hair Oil Recipe

Mason, Ball or other sterile class jar with air-tight lid.

1 cup of fresh rosemary leaves (optional, add a smidgen of basil and juniper fresh leaves and/or essential oils to the mix).

Jojoba oil (optional, sesame or sweet almond oil).

Fill the class jar with the rosemary. Cover the rosemary with the jojoba oil so that the rosemary is completely covered. Place the jar in your sunniest window. Let the herbs "steep" for 4 weeks or so. Turn the jar slightly every day to make sure that the sun contacts all sides of the jar. When the oil is finished steeping for 4 weeks, strain the leaves from the liquid with an all natural paper coffee filter or silk. Filter into a clean, sterilized amber or dark colored jar. Store in a cool, dark place.

Application

Pour just enough for your immediate needs into a clean glass bowl. Heat gently over a double boiler on in a microwave. Make sure the oil is warm but not too hot. Work the oil into the hair from the ears down to the ends. Use a cotton ball or your clean fingers. Apply a plastic shower cap or wrap. You may sit under a hood dryer to add heat or wrap hot towels over the plastic to help the oil soak into the cuticles more easily.

Wash out w/ a mild shampoo after 15-20 minutes.

You can also use sage to make a tea rinse.

Sage Tea Darkening Treatment

This treatment can be used to naturally darken the hair. Make an infusion of 1/2 cup of dry sage leaves in 2 cups of water, and steep for 2 hours. Strain, and pour over hair. Leave tea on hair for ½ hour, and rinse. This treatment is an ideal natural treatment to help cover grey hair. Use daily for best results, and utilize weekly for maintenance. Sage is an astringent, and is also used in facial steams and skin conditioners.

Sage & Rosemary Tea Colorant

For an even stronger, more effective color treatment, combine ¼ cup of sage with ¼ cup of rosemary and steep in 1 cup of water for 10 minutes. Strain, and use the liquid as a colorant for grey, or to darken brown hair. You will get the benefits of hair softening sage and dandruff fighting rosemary, while also stimulating hair growth.

You can do this without using a dye, but I have not found anything anywhere suggesting you can do it without using some sort of product. The only home remedy coloring items like lemon and peroxide will only make your hair lighter. However, John Freida ( found at wal-mart ) has a product intended for brunettes that will gradually darken your hair without the harshness of a dye. It's a color glaze which is different then dye because it only adds a shot of color and it brings out color by adding shine. It's gentle, non-damaging formula infuses brunette hair with a hint of natural-looking color while imparting multi-dimensional shine and soft, luxurious texture. It is also ammonia and peroxide free.
You can do this right in the shower and it take NO extra time!

Try this, it will make brunette hair richer and just slightly darker. Take strong cold coffee (no powdered coffee) and put it into a small spray bottle from a dollar store. Spray your hair until is is damp and then wrap in plastic wrap and leave in for an hour. Shampoo and rinse as usual and repeat once a week.

Warning: only for brunettes, if you are blond all you will end up with muddy blond hair.

i think you are out of luck if you don't want to dye or use products. your hair isn't going to get darker just by doing nothing. the best bet is to dye your hair. there are some products that will temp dye your hair and it'll wash out in 2 weeks if you wanted to do that. but i think your out of luck w/o hair dyes or products. unless it runs in your family for you to naturally get dark hair.

You can use a natural tinted henna rinse from a beauty supply store. While technically a "product", it actually improves the condition of your hair, as well as gently darkening it a few shades.
