do cats age the same way dogs do like for every 1 year to us it is 7 to them?

Roughly 5 cat years to 1 human years is about right, but this is only applicable from about 3 years of age. 1 year old cats are pretty much teenagers, they're adult from about 18 months old.
Even with dogs, 7 dog years so 1 human year does not work for every breed. Great Danes for instance are ancient at 8 years of age, and 8x7 = 56 human years, which is not ancient! Smaller breeds live the longest, the larger the breed the quicker they age.

The first year is counted as 1 year.
Any years after that are counted as 7.
Example:
My cat is 4 human yrs old.
She is 22 cat yrs old.
1+7+7+7=22.

Therefore, you need to keep a vigil on it once it is outside, where they are more prone to accidents. You may have observed that your cat has been putting on extra weight and she is also spending more hours sleeping.

cats age slower than dogs. i heard my vet say it and i heard a magazine say it. cats live up to 20 years of age, while dogs make it to about 14.
