I attend a non-denominational church. They have read scriptures in church where it says that there is only one legitimate church for each city, just like in the Beginning. But how do I know what is correct? I believe what they teach at my church to be true because it always comes straight from the Bible and I have a spiritual connection to this church. But how do I know I'm at the right place and that I am really living my life right in the way of God? Sarcasm, and Non-Christian Believers need not apply!

I am also non-denominational. Any church that teaches from the Bible is a good church. Any church that does not pervert the Bible is a good church. Just have a spirit of discernment, or spiritual right and wrong, pray so that you understand the Bible, and you will be fine. But no matter what, rely on the Bible first and foremost, don't let any church control you.

I don't think that there is only one legitimate church for each city. Even if the core beliefs were the same, the way a church does things does not apply to every person. Some people like big churches, some people like small churches, some people like hymns, some like modern music. You just need to ask God what to do. Make sure you are in agreement with the core values of you church and just feel for it. Do not just take everything at face value. There will always be things that you may not agree with about a church. You will know if you are truly seeking Gods direction.

I would question why they say there's only one legitimate church for each city. That is taking scripture totally out of context. The letters to the churches were not letters to city churches but are an example of the mistakes that many churches can make. If they are teaching you this wrongly, I would seriously question what else they are teaching that's 'off beam'.

The Bible is God, teachings normally from this source are commonly sound. Do not give any person a reason to put you in a box. Religions are boxes in peoples minds where they seperate you from fellowship so they do not have to listen to your words, or they feel defensive of their religion because you are not the same as they are. But if Jesus Christ came to earth today he would not be in any of these boxes that are man made. All religions have a head and it is ussually the founder, the founder of Christianity is Jesus Christ and there is NO other head besides him;
Ephesians 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: 14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: 15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: 16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
Colossians 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

You need to be studying the word. This is the only way to be able to discern.

Jos 1:8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
Jos 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go."

And
2Ti 3:16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
2Ti 3:17 that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.

Read your Bible, and may Jesus fill you with his Spirit.

I can appreciate your desire to search for the truth. However, I worry when people tell me they are from non-denominatonal churches. What do they mean? It seems as though every church that calls themselves "bible believing" or "bible based" has something different to say from one to another. Who is actually telling the truth? This is what you are ultimately asking.

It starts with the truth. Who has THE TRUTH? Do the Catholics? Baptists? Non-denominational churches? Are you absolutely certain the church you belong to is teaching the truth?

GOD bless

I have never heard of the 'Church' thing you mentioned. Christians interpret the Bible differently - I know I believe in a lot of different things than other Christians do, even though our religion shares the same name. My advice is to consider each situation that comes to you and do what you think is right - not what others dictate to you is right.

first i believe for them to say there is one correct church was out of line. thats like when people say only church of Christ is going to heaven. thats judging! how to know what you hear or believe is correct? you need to read it for yourself and ask God to give you revelation! youre not gonna understand the whole bible cause it is full of mysteries. you being at the right place is something else you need to pray about! living the way how God wants you to, you need to have faith. he said that the one with faith was accounted righteous. your not gonna be perfect in yourself. that doesnt mean to keep sinning cause you really need to serve God and not satan but its also very important to have faith! it is your faith that says you are saved. you cant read a bible carnal it has to be spiritual. i remember a verse where it says can a blind lead a blind wont they both fall into a ditch? pray to God, ask for his wisdom, read for yourself and be careful. people take the verses and turn it around to make it for there use. i dont know everything but im grounded in his word where people cant just tell me anything! i pray that you will get the knowledge that you need. amen

God cares about your RELATIONSHIP with Him, not your RELIGION.

Belonging to a church is nice, but it's not even required! If you're happy where you are being at your church, then it's the right place for you. Try and focus on more on just being with God instead of worrying about the building you worship in :)
