My neighbor has 7 or 8 dogs in the backyard of a tiny urban rowhouse. They bark at all hours of the day and night. Their excrement is covering the concrete in the backyard and is a health hazard as flies are now rampant. I've spoken with my landlord several times, and she's talked with the dog owner. There is still no resolution. What steps should I take next to either get the dog owner to properly care for these animals or have them taken away?

They have shelter. There's a shed. My landlord even said there's an AC in it.

Call the police! Animal abuse is against the law!!!! You can call the local ASPCA. There should be animal control officers at the police station! There is no reason to watch the poor things suffer like that! There are guidelines as to how the poor things are to be cared for down to numbers of shelters and food and water containers!!!!

contact your local authorities - animal control as well as police. This is indeed a health hazard to the animals as well as to yourself. In most parts of the country there are limits to how many dogs you can have, and all have to have proof of vaccinations, as well as be cared for. This person is guilty of animal abuse. The dogs deserve a home where they will be cared for.

Police usually can deal with this sort of problem. They will contact a pet shelter and may take her dogs away if they are in a really bad condition. So contact the police. It may take a while but I ensure you that it will get you a peaceful nights sleep.
Hope this helps!!!!

Call the Animal Abuse Shelter. They might have to take the dogs away, though!

You should call the ASPCA. They are specialized in fighting crime against animals. The dogs will be treated with humanly and removed from their "home". Your neighbor might also go to jail for animal cruelty. If you have any other questions just ask.

The best thing and the only thing you can do is call your local aspca. It is crulty to the animals to have them live there in those conditions, and if you do not call the aspca and take action than you are just as bad and just as resposible as the dogs owner. Please call the aspca.
