The just shall walk by faith, not by sight (2 Cor 5:7)! There is a big difference between religion (a repetitive system of actions designed to allow people to FEEL that they are doing what is right) and a true relationship with God (the coming together of God and man whereby man fully agrees with and follows God to the best of his/her ability as they grow in Christ). Jesus corrected the religious Pharisee and Sadducees over and over again regarding their pious, insensitive, prideful, and sinful actions. They were hypocrites claiming to be believers of God. They were only concerned about their image and their own prosperity not with the people who desperately needed love, compassion, and guidance in their everyday lives. Unfortunately, men and women never got it together, that is they never really figured out how to love God without becoming self righteous, intolerant, snobs. In fact, it plays out till this very day. But if you ever run across a person who truly worships God, has accepted Christ, and is progressively changing to fit the mold that God has purposed in their lives they will blow your mind. There are many that will say that they belong to this religion and that but there are few who truly walk the walk they talk. Seek out true converted Christ believers. These are people who understand that no one is perfect and that we all have sinned at one time or another. These are people that while they will never condone consistent sin in someone’s life, they certainly will not judge them or be mean to them simply because they are in a fallen state. A true believer will pray for that person and offer encouragement and correction in love while consistently evaluating their own lives. A true Christian doesn't believe in mere religion because God goes deeper than an every Sunday meeting, a song, a dance, some tears, and a publicly displayed prayer. God is about relationship and in order to sustain any relationship it cannot be left up to a once a week showing of love and passion. It must be every day; for God every minute. So don't be dismayed by the flaws you've seen in the professors of religion because the world is full of them. But as you cultivate a personal relationship with God ask Him to lead you to people who are truly in a relationship with Him. When you get around people like that, you'll never be the same.

The fact that there are people who don't practice what they preach, says nothing about the truth of what they preach. And there are easily just as many people with no religion that do bad things. It just may not be as juicy of a headline when a non-religious affiliated person does it.

The idea that religion is a method of control is nothing more than an excuse. As a Catholic, I can also say that it also shows a complete lack of understanding of why we even have "rules". Atheists and non-religious people are afraid of religion because they think it will impose all of these "rules" on them. The reality is that the "rules" we have, are actually what set us free, and ironically, the ones who don't follow the rules are the ones who are slaves to their vices. For example, the church says that "one should not drink to the point of getting drunk". The atheist says "I should be free to get drunk as much as I want," even when they become an alchoholic or get raped because they're so out of it. Which person would be more free, the religious practioner or the alchoholic/rape victim?

Religion in the Bible is actually a bad word. Religion is what keeps people from being open to the truth.
Even from the pages of the Bible, the first preacher was the serpent telling a woman she was not good enough for God and she needed more knowledge to be what God wanted her to be.
The first religion was Adam and Eve covering their nakedness with fig leaves and in fear of god's wrath.
The first killings was because a brothers religion was not accepted by God and his brothers was accepted and over a religious argument, a brother was killed.
The Bible is full of such stories, Jacob cheated his brother out of birthright, and then Esau purposed to kill him for that, except that God blessed Esau also so Esau forgave him.
Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus Christ for money and yet both in same religion

You feelings are so right. spirituality is from God. It is inside us and all around us. However, religions are created by men in an attempt to control the thinkiing and behavior of others. Most religions have some basics in common but the ways they differ are man made and the stuff that causes wars, hatred and suffering.

what do you think the role of government is? to control the masses. Anarchy is really not a good option, people need to believe in things, in certain rules/standards in order to be good people, so that humanity can survive and not live within chaos. Hate or dislike is a natural human emotion, it means that there is competition within a certain species/population and believe it or not, competition is good. . . in an ideal setting/world, but not in our human world!!!

I respect your feeling. Let me share my thoughts

Faith in God is your choice. If it comes by foce it wont work. But if it comes by realization of the truth, then you beleive.

Religion is a set of rules and traditional values created by man to reach God. BUt people dont know who the True God is. Thus religion appears so superficial.

But if some one knows about God, he doesnt follow religious rules. He is filled by the very nature of God's Love that he truly radiates to others.

I beleive in God and i love Him with all my heart.

Thanks for asking and reading !!
