UFO® - personal savior
joke:
man hears a knock on the door, asks "who is it?"
he hears the answer "land shark"
the man says "go away"

the man hears another knock
he say "who is it?"
the reply again is "land shark"

so again the man says "GO AWAY"
Then he hears ANOTHER knock and he says "who is it?"

and the answer he hear is Jehovah's witnesses

so he opens the door and is eaten by a land shark.

At times, a question such as this will elicit dozens and dozens of elaborate schemes to spare a householder an unwanted conversation with Jehovah's Witness door-to-door ministers.

All such schemes are a complete and utter waste of time!

Many of your neighbors have figured it out, and it's really quite simple:
1. Open the door
2. Smile (optional)
3. Ask "Jehovah's Witness?"
4. Receive affirmation
5. Say, "Thank you, but I'm not interested"
6. Gently close the door (slamming is rude, but your prerogative)

Please recognize that Jehovah's Witnesses are not primarily interested in converts, but in working to obey Jesus' command to preach (Matt 24:14; Matt 28:19,20).

In my entire 41 years, I have never had a Jehovah's Witness knock at my door unexpectedly, and I have lived in many addresses. The only ones who have stopped at our home are our friends who happen to be Witnesses, and they are most welcome. For the record, I have never had a Mormon missionary or any other come either.

I study regularly with a friend who is a witness, and she has never said anything like AIDS is a curse of God on homosexuals or anything like that. I read the Watchtowers and Awakes, and have read about 10 other books they have given me. No one has EVER forced me to believe the way they do, they actually invite questions, which is all but unheard of in most churches, and their answers come from the Bible. They do have some beliefs that seem a little stretched, and I don't agree with everything, but I most certainly appreciate their donated time and effort to help people learn more. I enjoy and look forward to the peaceful conversations with a very peaceful group of people. There is only one person who has been condescending, and she was the wife of a travelling overseer who came along for the study. It could have been a personality clash, or just her way of speaking, but I do not hold that against an entire religion.

As a salesperson, I cannot imagine staying that upbeat and positive when out 'cold calling" door to door and getting the sheer number of rude and thoughtless people who answer the doors. If they come to your door, keep in mind that they believe it is their duty as Christians to spread the word of God and get people reading the Bible. They do this not for money or fame, but completely volunteer from their heart. If you don't want to listen, at least be polite.

I agree with PastyFace in that the ones I've met are nice people. I've spoke to them regularly. If I haven't the time to talk when they come around then I say so, if I have then I'll chat. I don't think there's any need or excuse to be rude thesedays to anybody.

I haven't had any come to visit but I wouldn't let them in. I would think they are trying to case the joint. Not that JWs are theives, but people can pretend to be JWs.

If I had time I would step outside and chit chat a while. If I didn't have time I would say that this is not a good time.

I find the information that the JW's offer both valid and interesting. They are kind, courteous and seem to have the person's interest at heart. Only a person who's evil minded would try and shun them.

To BRIEF BOXER: How is teaching that Jesus is the son of God splitting God in half? Is your dad split in half because you're his son? Sorry to disappoint you, but that "teaching" in found in the holy bible..God's word and it does not lie! Check out 2 Timothy3:16-17. PEACE.

This works best:
JW knocks,
Homeowner: JW?
Reply is yes.
Homeowner: Please write my address on the back of your territory card and "do not call" next to the address. Thank you.
JW goes away, and MUST oblige your request and not to call.

starystarynight: Just because YOU call us apostate doesn't mean we are telling lies!!!!! you have just been told that all apostates lie and you gullibily follow along without questions.

I invite them in. I ask them to explain their mission, the doctrine of their belief system, and by what authority they came by their knowledge.

Then, I ask them question after question, until they run out of answers. At the point where they can no longer answer a question, one of two things ALWAYS happens. They either offer to come back with a more knowledgeable elder, and then never return, or they accuse me of being more concerned with questioning than submitting to the truth. (How can I submit to the truth, if they cannot give me an answer?) They say that we cannot know all of the answers. (Then how can we know all the questions? One cannot exist without the other.)

If JW can lead me to God, then the process that is followed must have been successful at least once. That successful person tells others how to also see God. If you have seen God, then you can tell me about Him. We can't just say, "I believe this will happen this way. I believe that you can see God if you do this". No. First, confirm that you have seen God. Saying that no one has seen God means that the process is flawed.

I don't answer the door, but they don't come by my neighborhood very often. They used to knock on my uncle's door all the time though, and one day he sat them down w/ his Bible and explained to the guy what he believed, they got into a religious debate, and the JW's never came back after that.

they are the nicest people I have ever met. They only come knocking to share truthful good news. I cannot say that about any other people or any other religion. It must be hard for them to get out any day they can judging by what I see on this nasty forum.

IT is like they make themselves evil victims before even knowing what the witnesses have to say because they immediately program themselves to be evil and laugh about how evil they behave to these nice people.

What the heck is the world coming to? They are like sharks, these hateful, taunting losers on here. Pretty soon things will be too late for them.
