The kitten is 6-7 weeks old. Also I cant get a hold of owners right now. And for those of you who say go to the vet, I called and she said wash her with dish soap. I did this twice and instead of dieing they are going into the kittens ears and face... she is scratching herself so hard she is cutting her ears. I cant just take the kitten to the vet because it is really expensive.

Put a cap full of skin so soft bath oil from avon in some warm water and dip the kitten in it. The fleas will fall off dead. I learned this from my vet and it really works.

Of course you can't leave the kitten untreated.
Go to a vet. They can provide you with safe flea treatment for kittens as young as two days old. The reason you haven't seen any appropriate treatment yet is that the stuff they sell in shops is the dangerous stuff and is therefore unsuitable for young animals.
Your vet will probably give you Frontline Spray - this can be used on tiny kittens. Frontline spot-ons can be used from 8 weeks of age.

EDIT: Don't use pet shampoos. Reason being, there is absolutely no point washing fleas off, because new ones from the environment are going to just jump right back on - if you have an animal with fleas in a house, they WILL be hatching out in the house too, so you'll need to get a house spray. Is the kitten at your house or your friends? If not your house you might want to let your friend know she needs a house spray!
EDIT 2: what kind of RUBBISH vet says to wash a kitten in dish soap?! There's no point washing fleas off an animal!! Lose this vet. Just ring round vets and find one that stocks Frontline spray. This vet has made me cross, gives the lot of us a bad name when a vet doesn't know how to control kitten fleas!

Take the kitten to the nearest local veternarian, and if it isn't possible, you can take matters into your own hands. How old is the kitten? It depends whether you can wash it, and use flea shampoo's, bathes, etc. Cats and Dogs share the same fleas, so please make sure the flea meds is working on your dog. Also, be sure the kitten's enviroment is clean, and it's possible to get rid of any pests, or bugs in that area. The enviroment is one of the common causes of fleas. Take action immediately, there are harmful effects of fleas! The kitten could get anemia, or become allergic to the saliva from the flea's mouth, itching takes place and the skin is harmed.
Good luck.

I had this very same problems with some kittens I had. Go to the store and buy a flea comb. Its tedious but works. Spray the comb with some flea spray. Lightly coating the comb. This is just to kill the fleas. If the cat starts to salivate stop using the spray. Come thru the kitten from top to bottom. Head to toe. Every inch that you can cover with the comb. Try to do this outside as you will have jumping fleas everywhere. Make sure you wipe the comb off inbetween each comb thru. It does work. I know I did it. Good Luck

Go to WalMart and get some Sevin rose dust. Pat the kitten down with. Treat the kittens bed, also. This is a safe way to contol fleas. An old vet told me about this many years ago and I have used it treat dogs and cats before without ill effects to my family. I was raising birds at the time and they were fine with this treatment.

Call a vet and see what they recommend! They might have something for a kitten or point you in the right direction so you can take care of the fleas.

Try washing the kitten in a pet shampoo. Leave it on for about 10 minutes. Fleas have a water-proof coating that usually keeps them from drowning, but it can be washed off. Keep the kitten wet and soapy. By a flea comb and comb it while wet. I was a pet groomer for over 10 years and kittens require treatment.

I used to artwork as a Vet Tech and that i observed many kittens/cats are available in who have been poisoned (torpid) from vendors who offered over the counter flea/tick drugs ~ the vet I worked for pronounced it truly is substantial get a flea medicine it incredibly is for the nicely suited weight of the animal and over the counter drugs are oftentimes in basic terms unreliable tremendously for a kitten. the terrific medicine (in the previous I grew to alter right into a stay at homestead mom in 2003) replaced into Advantix - it works regardless of the indisputable fact that it takes an afternoon or 2 using fact the fleas die as quickly as they chew the animal so even however you may desire to nevertheless see fleas they could be on your place so wait and see! additionally it keeps killing fleas for a complete month! they could even supply you frontline and that kills fleas and ticks even however I even have in no way truly seen ticks on cats. i could say that it could be wiser to bypass forward and purchase a product you recognize will artwork then to waste money on the over the counter stuff (using fact it truly is costly too) and you recognize it truly is going to likely be secure.

you can treat kittens with Flea Meds ,and Absolutely Should (call the vet for dosages) . Fleas can kill a kitten ,if it's small enough and there is an infestation. They can, literally, suck a kitten's blood dry. call the vet and get it taken care of ,for the kitten's sake.
Good Luck!

I have two new kittens (8 weeks old today) and they can use Frontline for Kittens. It's pretty pricy, but it does a terrific job of killing the fleas without harming the cats.
Cheers.
