How do you connect plug wires to the distributor cap in a 1987 gmc jimmy?

I need help with which spark plug goes first.

The firing order for this if it's a V-8 is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. #1 cylinder is the first one on the left side of the block and the left side of the block is the driver's side. The distributor shaft turns clockwise and #1 is one of the the most forward positions on the dist. Usually on these old ones, the number of the cylinder that the wire goes to is stamped onto the locking clip that holds the wires securely to the cap. Good luck.

just change them 1 at a time and you will be fine. they just pull off twist them before you unplug them.
