I thought I would take a moment and be the second member to answer.
I do. When you translate a book from one language to another, somethings do not translate correctly, so you get mistakes. The Bible has been through so many translations that some mistakes may have been made and parts left out.

The Book of Mormon has been proven to be a total fraud time and time again. Ask any non LDS Meso-American Historian or Archaeologist if any proof has ever been found to support the BoM and they unanimously say NO! Even LDS Historians and Archaeologists have been ex-communicated for telling the truth that the BoM is a fairytale. Why do you think nobody ever heard of Nephites, Lamanites, Jeredites, Cureloms, ect. ect. ect.
The Church cant even come up with a map to put in the back of the BoM so the faithful can follow along with the stories. Any Bible has detailed maps telling all about the places and events that happened in Biblical times yet the Bom cant even find any of the big places like the City of Nephi or Land of Zarehimla or anything else.
Thats because Joseph Smith made the whole thing up . The Bom is the laughingstock of the Meso American scientific community because they know it is a total hoax.

Normally I don't copy and paste, but I think it is appropriate here. This is the first paragraph in the Introduction of the Book of Mormon
"The Book of Mormon is a volume of holy scripture comparable to the Bible. It is a record of God’s dealings with the ancient inhabitants of the Americas and contains, as does the Bible, the fulness of the everlasting gospel. "
We believe that both books contain the fulness of the everlasting gospel.
The reason that there is a lot of repetition between the two books, is that the teachings of Jesus Christ do not change. If Christ were to come tomorrow, don' t you think he would say a lot of the same things that he told the Jews 2000 years ago? During Joseph Smith's life, religious language was the KJV language. It made sense to have the two read the same.

The BoM is not claimed as 'accurate' more than 'correct', and that is in regard to the spiritual aspect of the book. The KJV of the bible is the only 'authorized' version the church uses despite some of the more recent corrected versions published.
Because the BoM reflects the KJV in type of language, they are considered a 'pair'. Unfortunately, Smith's unfamiliarity with 15th century English grammar structure produced more than a few grammatical errors that cannot be blamed on the printer. Nice try, though.

Yes and no. Yes, because the Book of Mormon was translated just once from reformed Egyptian straight into English, whereas the Bible went through many language translations. And no, because I believe the King James Version is the truest of all the translations and versions. I don't like to read Bibles that have more up-to-date English in them, if you know what I mean. It takes out a lot of the feeling and beauty for me.

I'm not mormon anymore, but yes they believe the Book of Mormon is the most correct book ever written and if there was an inconsistency between the bible and the book of mormon, they would go with the book of mormon, although they do study both.

Isn't the Book of Mormon a fantasy adventure novel, plagiarized from the Bible, Shakespeare and the Koran? It is claimed to be inspired by God, but he made a lot of mistakes so it has been changed many times since this cult got started. (My dear Mormon friends, don't get upset that your church has been called a cult. A cult is any church, theology, philosophy or group that believes that they are the only true way.The LDS Church teaches that it is the only true church, so you should be proud to be called a cult.) If it was truly inspired by an infallible God, he would have got it right the first time and there would not be the need to go back to the presses and change the words . It's so sad that many very wonderful people have been misguided by this cult. Their leader is not a prophet, he's just a nice little old man that loves his followers and means well. I'll go to their picnics and be friendly, just won't drink the Koolaid

There are multiple versions of the Bible. It has been translated, compiled, and canonized by men, some of who were inspired, some who were not.
I I translate the bible from Latin into English, and accidentally use the word "dog" instead of God in a place or two, then wouldn't you say that my version is true as long as it's translated correctly?
You clearly don't speak another language. There is no such thing as a perfect translation. In English we have one word for "for". In Spanish they have 2. So If you're translating something from English to Spanish, which one do you use? You have to do some guessing. In Spanish there is no word for Courage. In english there is no great word for "pesado".
We believe the authors of the Book of Mormon had parts of the the Old testament with them and quoted from it.
Make no mistake, we believe in the words of all ancient prophets who were called of God....as long as those words are translated correctly.

I do believe the Book of Mormon is more accurate. That it cites the Bible is clearly an endorsement of that part of the Bible. It doesn't necessarily endorse the entire Bible, just as when people quote C. S. Lewis they are not endorsing the Anglican church.

Probably. The Bible as been thru many more translations and interpretations over the centuries.
The reason that there are so many SIMILAR verses in both is because why would God teach one thing to one people and then go to the other side of the world and teach something totally different?
