You'll get a £60 fine and 3 points on your license. You need to be doing 30mph or more over the speed limit in order to get your license taken away. They give you about 10% leway to allow for your speedometer being inaccurate but you are over that.

Almost everybody hates speed cameras, and yes, this country is turning into a police state. But 63mph? In a 30mph zone? They'll throw the book at you and throw away the key. And not a single person on here will say you don't deserve it. That is just plain reckless - the limit is 30mph in built up areas for a very good reason. If you're trying to start a debate about the usefulness of speed cameras or the big brother state, citing your own case as an example is not too clever! You broke the law - you didn't bend it, or even stretch it a bit - you were doing double the legal speed limit and deserve what you get. I wouldn't expect any sympathy if I was caught like this, and neither should you. End of story.

It happened to me - I received a letter from the police, accepted it, pleaded guilty, paid fixed fine of £60 and they put 3 points on my licence.
You do not say the circumstances. Mine was by camera. Were you stopped, was it by a policeman with a portable device. If it was by the latter simply challenging when it was last tested could quash the charge. It has to be tested before they go out with it and if they cannot prove this they cannot prosecute. There is a book advertised in the press and on the internet written by an ex policeman that supposedly gives all the scams to avoid prosecution. Its £25 I think which is quite a bit, but cheaper than £60, but you might end up paying both. Look for a support group on the net.

I got caught doing 36 in a 30 limit. I got 3 points on my licence and a £60 fine. The points stay on your licence for 4 years (I think) and if you accumulate 12 then it's an automatic ban.
That was a few years ago. Now I have small children and I do support the speed limit. I hate it when cars come blatting round the corner when my kids are playing outside. It's 30 for a reason - gives the poor child a fighting chance of living through it.

You can go to court. When accused of breaking the law you have the right to face your accused. The camera wouldn't be an accuser. Also often time the cop doesn't show up because they don't want to use their free time to fight a speeding ticket. Or pay the ticket and get the points. Your choice.

Assuming you have a clean licence then you will probably incurr a fine of £40 WITH 3 POINTS ON YOUR LICENCE.
if you have been convicted for speeding previously and have penalty points for a previous offence then you will expect to be fined £100 and a further 3 points added to your licence which will be totted up should you offend further .

On Earth and in Heaven,,,,,
Thou shalt be done....
you could prove that you were only driving for three minutes and no way could you have done 39 miles in that time......Dream on...
PS If you don't get ticket in post within 14 days it is invalid. They don't tell you that but it is grounds for appeal and is one of very few ways you can get off if you fight em.

Yeah, you'll get a fine, so obey the speed limit in future or watch out for those bloody cameras.

You will probably get ticket.
I was told by a former policeman that they use formula of 10% +2.
So (10% of30) +2 =35.
Anything above the formula will warrant a speeding ticket.
