Two piercings in one ear is so 1980's. If you really must (because piercing your ears isn't necessary to be more hip), one in each ear because depending on your career path, it may not look very professional.

I did the whole ear piercing thing when I was ten, then at fourteen added another one to the left ear. Then at eighteen, added another one. That time it got infected, because I had it done at a jewelry store with a piercing gun.

Back to the future, being older and wiser, I only wear one on each ear. I don't wear pierced earrings anymore.

I like big earrings for nighttime and pierced are just too heavy for that.

i dont think so. at one point i had 3 in one ear. Now i dont have any becasue now im addicted to tattoos. But no 2 is not innaproppriate at all. Do what you want to do as long as it makes you happy

inappropriate where?... in general?.. at work? for church?.. somethings are inappropropriate no matter what.. and for piercings- I find that that answer will vary not only depending on the above but also who you ask.. for instance in the workplace you should be more simple and professional looking so as long as what you have in your piercing is small or nothing then it will actually be fine-- where as if you have say 8 in one ear.. well it may be cool but harder to cover up in say a work situation i couldn't rock the 8 piercing but some do.. it is not so much what you have but how you where them or what you put in them and when.. and this is coming from someone who has 2 piercings in each ear... =]

It depends on what earings go in the 2nd piercing. If the first hole has a hoop and the second has a stud, I think that's pretty appropriate. Even a little tiny hoop with a big hoop is ok. People have different feelings about this and you should be cautious about how you use the second hole.

No way! Back in the day, the lobe piercings were considered to be what everyone had to have. In that society, it was acceptable, but two piercings on one ear wasn't. Luckly, times have changed, and now it's well accepted by society (and normal) for people to have a double pierced lobe and to have the top of their ears pierced.

No. 2 per ear is perfect. But IMO, more than that is excessive...

(Hilary Duff, for example, has excessive piercings on her right ear).

But on her left ear, which has 2 piercings, looks fine. It looks cute to have a hanging earring with a small stud above it. It doesn't look overdone, trashy, etc.

Some people who get multiple piercings on a ear, later regret it when they get older and can't do anything about the extra holes.

Nope. I have 3 in each ear lobe, my cartilage pierced in one ear and my tragus pierced in the other ear.

I'm never had anyone say anything about it. Lately I've taken out all the ones in my lobes, but I use to have them all in all the time. I would only take them out if I had to get all dressed up and wanted to wear special earrings.

not at all. I got 2 in 1 and 3 in the other.....and 1 in the eyebrow, and 1 in the tongue.
