No. If you're a U.S. citizen, you can stay in Thailand for up to 30 days without a visa -- you'll fill out a form on the plane, and then you'll get a stamp in your passport detailing the date you arrived in Thailand and the date you need to leave by. (It'll say "admitted until ______" and the date printed will be 30 days from the day you arrived.)
Do make sure, however, that you have at least six months validity on your passport (dating from the time you plan to LEAVE Thailand), just to be safe.
Good luck -- and have a safe trip!

You can get a 30 day visa on arrival at the air port, if you wish to stay longer than 30 day you have to leave Thailand, go to Cambodia, Laos or Malaysia and get an other 30 days on arrival visa to Thailand. the cost is about 1000. Thai Baht ($30) You can either just walk across the border go though immigration and cross right back over to Thailand, or your can stay 15 days in Laos, 90 days in Malaysia and 30 or more days in Cambodia before retuning to Thailand Or you can get a 60 day tourist visa in the states at a Thai embassy before coming to Thailand.
Enjoy!!

If you are a U.S. Citizen, you are given a 30 day visa upon entering the country automatically. Beyond that, you would have to get a 30 day extension. Or obtain a 60 day visa at the local Thai consulate.
As far as the 6 months left on the passport, you should have renewed I did not last year. My passport expired in October 2005 and I traveled there in July 2005. I just signed a waiver with the airline, not holding them responsible. I was going for a 5 day visit. And with the long renewal times. I would just insist on a waiver if this applies to you.
Have a good trip. I was just there in April.

If you intend to stay less then 30days in thailand there is no need for a visa if you are from the following countries http://www.thaivisa.com/479.0.html...
For extended periods up to 60 days you can apply for a tourist visa (before arrival to the city) and for longer periods than that you need to apply at Office of Immigration Bureau located on Soi Suan Plu, off South Sathorn Road, Bangkok 10120 , Tel (662) 287-3101-10.

No visa necessary. I traveled in Asia last year and the only countries where we needed a visa prior to entry were Vietnam and China. It's too bad you only have 10 days in Thailand. It's such an amazing country. We were there for a month and we're going back this year!

No, you will be issued a 30 day visa upon entry. If you plan to stay for longer than 30 days and less than 90, you will have to contact the Thai Consulate to get a visa in advance.
