Dress code in front of kids?

I am 26 yrs old been married almost 6 yrs have a son who is 6 yrs old and a daughter who is 2.5 yrs old.Anyhow my hubby thinks that my walking around the house semi naked is bad example for the kids esp. our son? Sometimes i walk around in lingerie baby doll thing from victorias secret and heels just cause i am in sexy mood but most of the time with a short robe over it also from same store,bathing suit and shorts if its pool day for the kids so i dont have to change later on, but most of the time i am in my sports bra and exercise shorts/or pants because i am a runner who worksouts (i find workout clothing comfty).How can this have a negative impact on my son or daughter?I mean they have both children have seen me change and in the shower ect. neither child looks distrubed by this?

The worst i have done is worn lingerie to the breakfast table without a rob because i was is a rush.My kids have all seen me in my underwear because sometimes i am changing and doing 10 things at once.Only a few occasions where they saw me naked because their were no towels in b-room or because they want me to come out and get them something.

yea it could i mean its no better then letting them see porn on tv....

id never dress like that or go nude infront of my kids. this is because I feel its wrong and i feel it would affect them id never wanna see my mom in a babydoll victorias secret thing.
id be so embrassed and offended....

As someone who spends lots of time at my kids school you need to remember that your 6 year old could tell someone the wrong way what you wear around the house. As a mom I don't let my children see me in things that reveal to much only because I don't want them to do it. The work out clothes and bathing suit are one thing, but the sexy clothes made and intended for naughty time in the bed room are another. Do you want your 10-13 year old daughter to do the same, she will if you teach her it's ok.

This is something that every household needs to decide for themselves. It is what level you and your children and your spouse are comfortable with. Some people find nudity in any form wrong. I disagree. However, when my 4 year old son asked what happened to my pee pee (since I don't have the same "equipment" as he does), me and my husband decided it was no longer appropriate for him to see me naked. I think it's ok to teach kids a healthy respect of nudity. I think in this country we are overly sensitve about nudity. Now, you may want to refrain from wearing intimate wear that is meant to be sexy in front of your son. That may cause some confusion on his part. Also, you would want to be a little bit more appropriate in your dress if the kisd have friends over. But the rest sounds fine to me.
However, if your husband is uncomfortable with it, you need to discuss and come to a compromise. He has a say so, also.

I would draw the line at lingerie in front of an impressionable 6 yr old boy. That is a little too old to be seeing you in sexy lingerie. Some things need to stay in the bedroom. Time to put some clothes on, mom.

I grew up in a fairly liberal family and grew up seeing members of the family (parents, cousins, bros and sisters) half or fully naked.
My daughter and son have seen us naked, showered with them as well several times when they were smaller I think there is an age when they should be able to see their parents naked, tho not often, and the objective is that they should establish for themselves how people change as they grow up physiologically.

Theres nothing wrong with it. I think kids who have seen things like these wont be disturbed.

Think of it as way of teaching your kids the differences in the physical forms, as well as letting them know the dynamics of beauty, fitness and how this is all temporary. Its way better if the kids learn about the female and male physique from their parents than from other people...(uncles with green minds) or the net...(online porn) or TV... (through misplaced focus) that way, you can put things in perspective for them. the stage is set.

Sexy lingerie is meant to be worn during private time between you and your husband. By wearing it in front of the children, you are setting an improper example of what types of clothing should be worn under what circumstances. Just as you probably would not wear a scarf and mittens in july, or pajamas to the grocery store, you should not wear lingerie in front of your children.

I agree completely with G.G. You are setting the tone for your children. How will you feel when your daughter is wandering the house in sexy lingerie in front of your husband and son when she's 16?

This is really not something that anyone can decide for you.
It's really a personal decision.
My family own family is very modest and always covers up.
However at my cousins house both parents are known to go stark naked.

Just keep in mind that you have to live what you teach.
If you go naked are the children allowed to do so?

Your hubby is right, your kids are at a age where they shouldnt be exposed to you walking around half nude, or see u when u taking a shower. You should have more respect for the kids as well as for yourself.

i think your kids will be okay. they probably see or will see more skin on tv. personally i wouldn't wear anything that completly revealed my private parts thats bordering on vulgar (especially with a 6 yr old boy)
