Judo is great,
Ki Itsu Sai is a great club in the Miami area, one of the best in the country really.
MMA is just as good if not better. American Top Team is nearby, they have an amazing place to train at.
Basically you are very lucky my friend, Miami is a great place for Martial Arts, and pretty much whatever floats your boat you can find there.
For weight loss I suggest in no particular order:
MMA= All encompassing, lots of conditioning
Boxing= Great conditioning, may not be for you since many boxing places will have you conditioning and working drills for months before really getting into it.
Muay Thai/Kickboxing= Again see MMA or boxing, lots of cardio. Lots of hard contact, like many of the arts I list, if you have a competetive drive it will make you lose more weight and motivate you.
Judo= lots of conditioning, lots of sparring, done wearing a thick gi. Full body workout.
BJJ= Lots of sparring, builds wind, lots of core exercises.
All of which have great places around Miami.
You can take Tae Kwon Do, or anything of that sort and they will all help you get in shape and lose weight. Just some arts are more effective than others. All depends on what you do, and the attitude you have on how far you want to take it.
Miami is a great place for Martial Arts though, lots of top quality places.
Best of luck to you, message me if you want specifics on any place in Miami.

The one that you will enjoy enough to stick to so as you can get the benefits it may offer. Hell if I say Thai you may hate getting hit after 2 weeks and quit so it's wrong.
If I say Kung Fu you may quit due to your reasons and on and on. They are all cool if you choose a reality based one you will gain effective defensive skills as well.
Go find a system that has these 3 qualitys
1) A Teacher that is a Teacher thru the eyes of his Students not Himself.
2) Uses both resistive and non resistive defensive skills in the curriculum. Alot of non resistive moves are very effective for older and non fighters as the developers intention was to give thses folks a sense of defense.
Many great Shaolin and Do arts have moves that are very effective and cool, but are taught non resistive and should be. So be open to both ways and know they both are cool and have their place. But you also need resistive skills otherwise you never know what really works for you. The skill is called Randori in Japanese arts. You need this or else your self defense sux.
3) A student base that you feel comfortable with enough to wrestle with daily and build a close relationship with. A good school will build a team spirit.

Any martial art which makes you do hard cardio, which can be any martial art actually.
However, kick boxing classes tend to push their students harder stamina wise during training so that would be a good choice.
They spend more time punching and kicking from the start compared to other martial arts which usually require you to spend time doing forms and techniques, which though make you sweat, are not as effective if you yourself aren't a serious practitioner.
If on the other hand you actually want to learn forms, techniques, then you can try taekwondo, capoeira or wushu for top picks on martial arts which really make you drip during training.

Ive seperated my answers into two groups Group one is hardcore excersise group two is excersise with more martial arts envolved
group one, difficult stuff (endurance is the goal with these)
Wrestling (2 miles warm up and 2 miles cool down
Boxing (endless running jumproping and speed drills
Group two (excersise thats not so hard but still a good work out)
Judo (judo will get you up running and string, It also enables you to use your body with better physics. Judo can help you acheive strong results without brute force)
Jiu jitsu (will work on your endurance and also work wonders for your abs. It will teach you little tricks to submiting people and clever ways to tire out your opponent while you just sit there and hold on for the ride)
Main important thing; Dont waist your money on hap hazard martial arts, You can excersize for reletivley free but an education in fighting is what costs money here. If you going to spend 100 bucks a month on classes that get you in shape and teach you relevant stuff avoid classes like aikido, karate and tae kwon do. They do get you to do jumping jacks and stuff but when it comes down to it they may not save you from getting hurt in a fight plus they do not push you to the limits of your energy. You need some ground work to get you super tired and exhausted. not punches into the air. I would recomend judo or jiu jitsu. weather your kicking *** or getting your *** kicked it always makes you sweat and is fun as hell (so the burning in your muscles isnt so bad )

I'd recommend Traditional Hombu Aikido. I had a classmate who weighed over 200 pounds when he started and made the whole dojo shake whenever he practiced ukemi(breakfall) rolls. After a year of wringing a pint of sweat from our gi after every session, he slimmed down to about 150 pounds and almost made no sound on the mat when he did ukemi rolls.
P.S. I must tell you however that we practiced 6 days a week, 6 hrs per session. So it might take longer for you if you practice only say twice a week.

the best sport maybe kendo. I have exp. because i am doing it. It is fun, hard. If get use to of the hits, then ur fine. U get this armor and japanese clothes called hakama and keikgo that cost about $600 if u buy it together. seperately is cheaper. Also, even if u wear the armor, the hand usually hurts the most but it doesn't hurt that much. It is a fun sport if u have friend to battle. I do battles with my brother. (he wins mostly, i am not a fighting type guy.)

muay thai. It involves kicks, punches, elbows, knees. it works the whole body and one of the most dominant forms of martial arts out there. In mma the concensus is you train muay thai, brazilian jiujitsu, wrestling, boxing. If you want to lose weight fast do muay thai.

Tae Kwon Do, it's twin Tang Soo Do or a northern Shaolin style. There all emphasize kicking which burns more calories than punching.
