I am 5'3" and about 60 lbs. overweight. I have wanted to lose this weight for a long time, but find it difficult to stick to anything. I am impatient and when I don't see a lot of results fast I stop working out and what not, but know that I will not be truly be happy until I finally get rid of all the excess weight.

I am good with finding an excercise routine, but how do I stick to it? Also what full meals would you recommend since I'm horrible at coming up with healthy ones that work for breakfast, lunch, or dinner? And is the whole snacking every 2-3 hours really a good thing? What snacks would be good?

I am very serious about this weight loss once and for all and I would greatly appreciate any help. My goal is to be at a healthy weight by March 2008.

Well, you've given yourself a goal, so stick to it.
Stopping exercise for not getting immediate results is pointless. You have to stick with one, and make sure you are comfortable with it. You need to be a little more patient with the exercising, I promise!
As for eating, start keeping a food journal. You'd be surprised what you really eat, and the quantity! Be honest with it though!
Also... start looking at your portions some more. Make sure you're not over eating some things!
Lay off the junk food!
As for the snacking! It is a good thing, but you should make sure you're not having such large snacks. Make sure they are healthy (You could have fruits, a yogurt, some veggies cut up! Nuts are wonderful, have alot of protein, and are tasty!)

If you would like, you could IM me, and we could speak more about this! Sometimes having a buddy to encourage you helps alot more!

I was in your same exact situation a while ago. What I did was I looked online for so many exercises and diet things and what-not, and I finally found the perfect combination of things to do. A website that'll help you is www.calorie-count.com, it can help you track your weight loss, calorie intake, etc. Everyone is different, so what was good for me may not be good for you. Talk to your doctor about it (I know that's what everyone says, but you should do it!!). Find an exercise program that YOU made: it's a lot easier to stick to when you're the one in control and not just following someone else's routine. If you don't see immediate results, it's okay. If you start feeling as though the exercises aren't working, start experimenting with some other exercises until you find the perfect combination for you.
For the snacking thing: yes, snacking is GREAT for you. It keeps your metabolism going so it's working all day. Fruit ALWAYS makes a great snack, and air-popped popcorn is really good: it fills you up quickly and it hardly has any calories. Also pickles are good too: they don't have any calories, and I think they increase your metabolism, I can't remember exactly. Just remember: variation is key, don't let your metabolism have a schedule. Change the time you eat meals each day, force your metabolism to be able to work on command...if that makes sense...Just make sure you're the one in control.

Hey there, glad you are trying. First, it took you a while to put on an extra 60 pounds, and it will take a while to take it off.

Here is my plan for you.

1) Start making excuses why you can stick to your plan instead of making excuses why you can't. That is more powerful than you can imagine.

2)Diet There are only two things you can't eat, anything with sugar or flour. In only a few days without these two products, you're body will not crave them any more.

3)Focus on how you will look and feel when you have accomplished your goal. Before you go to bed each night, visualize the following...Someone that hasn't seen the "new" you comes up to you and says.."What did you do, you look great, I didn't even recognize you".

Your contra dicting yourself.... u say your serious about losing weight but u can't stick to anything. there is no such thing as 'fast' weight loss. at least not in a healty way. it's not safe to lose more then three pounds a week. when u lose weight fast your usually just losing water weight not fat and it'll come back as soon as u get rehydrated.

U NEED TO EAT ! ! ! NO DIETING! if u don't eat like how u regularly do your body goes into starvation mode and will hang on to whatever food you give it.
To burn fat (w/out losing muscle mass) you need to create a calorie defecit.
u do this by burning more calories then you take in.

3 ways to do this

1. Break down what you eat into 5 meals a day at least 3 hours apart. it works wonders 4 your metabolism

2.Lift weights 'light'. Hi repetions with low weight will turn fat to muscle. (it builds muscle and muscle needs to burn fat to survive)

3. the obvious one ..... CARDIO!.... GO RUN!!!

Before March you still have time... The best way to lose weight for me is to stop eating fast food,
Exercise for 30 min daily,
Never eat between meals,
Never eat after 18 o'clock,
Drink two cups of water an hour before breakfast
and finally eat very well in breakfast and reduce the amount of food per meal gradually untill 18 o'clock

i'm sorry approximately your dad. click under and you additionally can discover the suggestions you're staring at for. Being a cancer survivor myself I fairly don't think it was once the cancer that brought about your dad to drop some pounds. in many cases if a cancer sufferer loses weight this is from the drugs/radiation and chemotherapy. i myself do not evaluate that whenever you start up dropping weight that the cancer is to huge to be cured. i'm not attempting to be rude or cruel top here inspite of the undeniable fact that it sounds to me your father was once having subjects years interior the previous and not went to a physician to have it regarded at until eventually now than it became a hugh capture 22 difficulty and then whilst he did go it was once to late. Your dad was once having subjects along with his bowels so which you would be able to make himself think of bigger he might desire to not eat as a lot. this is probably going one in each of the factors he lost weight.

5 ft3 and 60 lbs um thats a little underweight
lol
do u mean 160?
for that i would just run/ do a sport
ask a parent for better food chocies for dinner lunch etc......
lose all the temptations
weigh urself once a week and keep going intill u see results
count the number of calories ur eating and limit it
try to get a pedometer to see how many calories u burn during ur sport
have fun during ur sport/ exersices
try and get family and friends involved in ur challenge
don't lose to much
even losing 10 to 15 pounds over ur time period makes u so much healthier and if u lift weight don't worry about ur weight because u gain musle pounds just try and make urself look and feel better
good luck!

find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have protein (lean meat, legumes etc) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio is the only fat burning exercise and burns fat all over your body (running, jogging, swimming, ellipticla, spinning etc) 4-6 times a week for 30-50min (ideally 45min because the first 20-30min body burns carbs and only then starts burning fat), light weight training (more muscle=faster metabolism)
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, pasta etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)
and take a multivitamin with breakfast and omega or flax oil capsules.

Here is a place that reviews a bunch of weight loss programs, dieting aides, supplements and so on. The site even has categories like diabetes, low fat and hypnosis. Pretty cool site.

http://www.reviewplace.com/cat-135-DietsWeightLoss--Top-10-Weight-Loss-Programs.html

Many of the products and programs listed have consumer reviews, so you can read what others think before you decide on one for yourself.

Hope this helps!
