I been thinking about buying those prayer candles that are for Jesus, Mary or a Patron saint, but are they a good idea, I know most are 7-9 day prayers.
Anyone have any sucess with those?

To me lighting a candle brings the light of Christ in the the room and brings Jesus into your prayers or meditations. I can buy those candles for 99 cents at most any store

The purpose of the candle is so that you see the lighted flame and it reminds you of God's continual presence, love and protection. It also may remind you or others of the devotion being expressed to the particular saint involved. The candle itself has no power to answer prayers, it is just symbolic.

The candles have nothing to do with your communication with God...just pray you can do it anywhere in the car, in your house, if you want to spend 3.00 on a candle that is your prerogative, but it would be better spent buying the homeless person on the corner a couple of hamburgers from McDonald's...that is no way meant as sarcasm or disrespect please do not take it that way.

They are fine. If it helps you with your faith, then use it. It will not do anything by itself... it is designed to help you focus. It helps you with your faith, which is where the power comes from... from your communion with God. If it helps you get there, then use it. If not, find something else to help you get there.
I know someone will come in here and say the candle actually does something, but it's not about that. Ask your priest. It is a meditation device. You can't just light it and walk away. It is worthless without you and God.

I would just use any candle.Does it really matter what the label on the candle say?I think the persons intentions matter more.When I pray with candles I just buy whatever is cheapest.

Cause they are girl! it doesnt matter the cost, your not going to have money in heaven! so go for it buy them show how much you lvoe God if you dont have the money to spare and talk to him prayer love him hes a great guy! :)

I make and burn white candles because white represents purity.. I have also heard that white candles keeps your angels around you...
