Get ya some old newspapers and lay 'em down on top of the dirt and damp them. Or you just make sure you keep them in a shaded area and keep the soil damp. With it as hot as it is, it won't take much for the worms to come to the top and bake.

I use an old wooden box, about 9" deep with a surface area of about 4 sq. feet. The box has no holes or gaps for the worms to escape but you can line it with something if you wish. ( The size of ther box is up to you, just make sure the worms have enough space to worm around)
The box is filled with used compost from my potting shed and I just dump the worms in there as I dig them up. when I want to use them, I use a plastic dust pan to scoop up the contents which I then sieve back into the box leaving lots of happy wriggling worms in the garden sieve.
I prefer to use old compost because it is more granular than soil , does not turn to mud or hard lumps and it contains plenty of what worms like to stay healthy.
If you don't have a sieve, just use your hands to dig in and retrieve the worms, the compost makes this easy.
Although only meant to be a temporary home , I am convinced that some of the little buggers have evaded me and taken up permanent residence . That's OK by me, I'll git their babies!
Just ensure that there is an air supply ( the reason for the larger surface area ) and that you don't over water and drown them too soon!
Fresh worms to go!

get a couple of plastic containers, put some dirt in them and put them in the fridge. if you put a lid on them be sure to put some holes in the top or they will die. If you have ever bought them from a store, you would know they keep them in the fridge.
Make sure the dirt is moist

Keep them in the shade, in dirt with some old or new coffee grounds mixed in...not a lot of water either. An old coffee can with holes punched in the lid works best

Try moistened dryer lint. I'n not joking it's the best, but soil or newspaper will work too. Keep them in the fridge!
